As we sat in the back seat of the car, the only sound was the low hum of the engine, I took my jacket out and handed it to my mate, who took the jacket slowly from my hand and wore it, it was quite big on her, for which I am glad it covered her bare see-through dress fully. she mattered a low "thank you". I nodded.

My beta, Alex, sat in the driver's seat, his face stoic and unreadable. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease settle in the pit of my stomach. And now, my mate sat beside me, a fragile human wrapped in my jacket to shield her from the darkness that surrounded us.

As the adrenaline faded, my mind began to race with questions. she smells like a human. How could she be my mate? A mere mortal, destined to stand by my side as Luna of my pack? It was unheard of, yet there she was, her scent filling my senses and her heartbeat pounding in my ears.

But as I glanced over at her, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. She seemed so small, so weak. How could she possibly rule over the beasts that roamed the night? I had no intention of having a weak Luna, someone who would hold me back or make me vulnerable.

The darkness outside seemed to seep into my very soul, a reminder that the world was a dangerous and unforgiving place. And now, with my mate by my side, I couldn't help but wonder if I had just invited even more danger into my life. And hers.

Maybe she was destined to die there on the hands of some beast. That though, even though was my own, made me have shivers.

Airy POV

Sitting in the back seat with this new man, I tried to go as close to the door as possible and the thought of escape came to me like a whisper in the dark. The car sped through the empty streets, the only sound coming from the engine and the occasional eerie howl of a lone wolf in the distance. The driver was quick and skilled, making it clear that there was no chance of jumping out and surviving. The door was locked anyway, so I was trapped.

The man sitting next to me interrupted my thoughts of escape when he handed me his jacket. I took it gladly, feeling the warmth envelop me. But it was too warm, almost suffocating. I knew it wasn't a gesture of kindness, it was a warning of what was to come. I looked at him, his eyes dark and unreadable, and I realized that I was in serious trouble. No one would come to save me, and I was alone in a car with a man who had sinister intentions.

The drive was dark all around, and the thick forest seemed to be closing in on us. It reminded me of the bus ride, which took us nowhere good. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as my mind trailed back to Lily, Rose, Clara, and the others who would end up going with a complete stranger into the darkness.

The man sitting next to me suddenly let out a big sigh, breaking the long silence that had settled in the car. He turned to me and asked, "What's your name?" This was the first word that came out of his mouth within 20 minutes of driving.

I did not want to answer him, but I could already sense his impatience. I knew I had to tread carefully, as angering him could lead to dire consequences. With a low tone, I replied, "Airy."

The man only said, "Hm," and looked ahead again. But he kept looking at me now and then, and I could feel his gaze even though I was looking out of the window or my lap.

The car came to a stop in front of a three-story house, at the end of a seemingly gated neighborhood. As the driver came and opened the door on my left and gestured me to come out, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. The street was dark, and there were only one or two people walking in and out of the houses.

The man beside me gestured for me to follow him, but I froze. I couldn't move, and I started slowly backing up. The man stopped walking and looked back at me, his expression growing more and more impatient.

That's when I turned on my heel and started running. I forgot that I was barefoot, but it didn't matter. I was running at full speed, not even considering that I may have no way out, as this place seemed gated with guards.

But I didn't make it far before I was grabbed from behind. I turned around to face the man who had caught me, and he had an angry expression on his face. His anger was fuming out of his nose, and his eyes seemed dark.

Without saying anything other than an angry sigh, he dragged me back to the house and made me stand on my own. I felt trapped, with no way out. What had I gotten myself into? Was this the end of the line for me?

The man led me inside the house and up a flight of stairs. I could feel his eyes on me the entire time, and it made me feel even more uncomfortable than before. When we reached the top of the stairs, he gestured for me to enter a room at the end of the hall.
