"Did you actually believe... or were you truly naive enough to think... that children stood a chance against us?" Lucius Malfoy chuckled. His eyes narrowed as his laughter died off and glared at Harry. "I'll make this simple for you, Potter. Give me the prophecy now... or watch your friends die."
"Harry!" Lily screamed. "Harry! No! Don't give it to him!"
"Shut up you filthy little half-blood!" The Death Eater holding Lily shoved his wand tip further into her throat. He was seething and Lily was pretty positive he was trying to cop a feel.
"Oh, sod off!" She hissed only to get backhanded. Her mouth filled with a salty rust taste.
Really? The stinging hex on my face hurts enough as it is. She grumbled to herself.
There were suddenly flashes of light and members of the Order appeared around them. Remus Lupin appeared beside Lily and punched the man restraining her.
"Remus!" she cried.
He grabbed her face for a split moment and looked down at her to see if she was alright and then the spells were flying. He shoved her toward Harry giving her the perfect view of watching their godfather, Sirius Black deck Lucius Malfoy right in the face!
"Sirius!" Lily rushed to him, sending up a shield charm "protego!" To protect them from getting hit with a large ball of green light.
"Listen to me, both of you," Sirius said as Lily sent a slicing hex at some bulky ugly fucker. "Take the others and get out of here."
"What!" Lily and Harry shouted at the same time. "No! We're staying with you!" Harry finished as Lily was a little preoccupied with casting a nasty blood-hexing curse at Bellatrix Lestrange who came a little close to getting Arthur Weasley.
"You've both done beautifully," Sirius shot a spell protecting Lily from getting hexed. "Now, let me take it from here."
Lily almost listened to Sirius, she really did. Her job was to always protect Harry but at this moment, she wanted to protect him too. He was all they had left, not including the Weasleys or Lupin. Lily loved Sirius and she wanted him to know that. She shared a look with her brother and the silent agreement to stay was... That. They were staying whether Sirius liked it or not.
Spell after spell, Lily slung them around and fought with everything she had. She was not expecting to get tackled by Bellatrix though. That was a surprise and of course, dear sweet Neville and Ginny had Defindo her arse right off her.
"Thanks!" Lily grinned and rushed back, despite having a wicked gash running down her face, as well as a broken nose, and all that jazz. She had fought her way back to Harry and Sirius's side just as Harry sent a good knockback jinx at someone. Sirius grinned at her.
"You look so much like your mother!" He laughed.
"Now is not the time to be hoppin' down memory lane, Padfoot!" Lily flicked her wrist. "Bombarda!"
"Niceee!" Sirius shouted in a singing voice.
Lucius Malfoy came at Sirius again and the three of them worked together. Sending spell after spell, shield charms. "Aqua Eructo!" Lily shot a heavy blast of water at the Death Eater who joined in.
"Expelliarmus!" Harry knocked Lucius back.
"Nice one, James!"
Lily turned to grin at them both when the blast of green hit Sirius right in the chest. Her smile faltered and suddenly everything felt cold.
"Sirius..." She whispered.
Watching in horror as he walked closer and closer to the veil that whispered loudly at her. His wand cluttered to the floor and she lurched for it and him all at the same time.
