Toast

I ran towards the emergency room as fast as I could. I received a text from Rae that Sykkuno collapsed without a warning. I stopped running as soon as I saw Rae outside the ER staring into a distance. I took a moment to catch my breath before approaching her.

Instead of talking, I figured I would just tap her shoulder to let her acknowledged my existence. She immediately turned to me with tears flowing from eyes. "What's gonna happen?" My guess is that it's a repercussion due to his memories returning all at once, but I could be wrong. I certainly don't want her to expect that. Her heart can't take it if I was wrong.

"Can you explain to me how this happened?" She nodded in agreement.

"It was a slow day at the café and I was getting a bit bored. All that he did the whole day was stare at me. Our conversations were short as if his mind was elsewhere." She started as she wiped her tears. "I suggested that we play valo since it was nearing closing time and there was no costumer at sight." She looked up to restrain her tears but her voice cracks still gave her shock away. "I got too absorbed in the game since I wanted to show off in front of him, but before I know it he collapsed on my shoulder." I sat down on the bench in front of her.

"Did he say that he was in pain? Did he tell you where it hurts?" I gently asked her to which she shook her head in response.

"I've always loved your smile whenever we play together, that's what he said." My guess is now a probability. The doors of the emergency room opened and the doctor came out.

"How is he?" I immediately stood up to greet him. The doctor looked at me and then smiled. My heart leaped for joy.

"Rachell?" The doctor glanced at Rae who was still trying to calm herself.

She took a deep breath before answering. "Yes, doc?" She walked towards us while wiping her tears. "You better prepare yourself." Her crestfallen expression only got worse.

"Is he gone?" Tears welled up in her eyes once again.

"Change your phrase, doc." Why the fuck would you phrase it like that?!
