Every single day whenever I help at Lily's comfy cafe there's always a lady ordering a pumpkin spiced latte and would stay there the whole day browsing at her phone. It bothered me that her eyes lacked light almost as if she lacked happiness in her life.

It was near closing time, and Lily asked me to close the shop since she promised Michael she'll return home early for their anniversary.

As per usual the lady was sitting by the window. First one to arrive and last one to leave.

"Your family might be getting worried." The night was growing deeper and the cafe closed an hour ago but I'm afraid of asking her to leave.

"He's not waiting for me there." She answered with a melancholy smile plastered on her angelic face.

"A boyfriend?"

"Husband." She corrected.

"Ah." No words came out apart from that sound. "Mind telling me about him?" She gaze into my eyes with wonder.

"If you don't mind." I smiled and sat down in front of her. "How do I start?" Her eyes suddenly sparkled. A little glimmer of hope perhaps?

"Are you marr-"

"Married? Yes. Happily? Not so much." Her quick-witted answer almost made me laugh. "He's a huge liar." The light in her eyes were quickly overshadowed by pain.

"Can I ask something?" Better change the topic quick. I can't let her waste any tears for that man. Whoever he is.

"Shoot."

"I don't mean to be rude, but why do you stay at our cafe for so long?"

"He told me so." Her eyes glimmered as if tears were threatening to fall any minute now. "He said that he'll be here. He asked me to wait for him here." The determination in her voice makes me feel bad...

"what happened?" there's an unsettling feeling rising within me.

"I want to ask that myself. If only he can remember." Remember?

"I sure hope he'll remember." I said aloud. That came out even before I could think of it.

"You seem too comfortable with your current life for someone who wishes to remember." she took out her ring and presented it to me. It looks exactly the same as mine. Only hers was engraved with My braincell Thomas, while mine was My braincell Rachell.

"I..." My jaw dropped. "You're here for me?" Dumb question not gonna lie.

"It pains me to see you stare at me from a distance not even daring to approach me. What happened, my love. I wanted to ask you so badly. I wanted to kiss you so badly." Tears started flowing from her eyes. "Can I take your order, Miss? That was the first conversation we made after you disappeared for 2 whole months."
