AN: hey guys! I've been thinking about this for a little while but I was thinking about writing another Kaz story! This one would be based on the books! Obviously it won't be released until after I prewrite for a little and also I want to finish bonus chapters for this book first! This book comes first!

Tell me if you guys would be interested!

It's going to be a quite wholesome story as well. Will still carry the darker elements of the six of crows series, but the main character will be a lot lighter. So less trauma 😂. I need a break from writing traumatized characters for a moment. I'll write a small "explanation" of the story in a separate chapter/part.

Jesper walked out of the inner compound with a smile on his face. Ohval was a few steps behind him.

Jesper patted Daemon's shoulder as he passed, "We'll wait outside for you."

Daemon nodded, briefly glancing at the sheathed sword he carried out. The Neshyenyer. She knew the blade was probably beautiful.

Ohval stared down Daemon, "Clarissa, it's been a long time. I haven't seen you since you were a very young child."

Daemon nodded and was surprised at how easy her voice slid out for the woman, although it was still quiet, "I go by Daemon now."

"I see. Come inside. I'll make you tea."

Daemon cautiously followed behind the woman as she led her further inside, until they reached a beautifully decorated room. Ohval gestured for Daemon to take a seat at the table and Daemon did so. Her eyes trailed over the painted scrolls on the walls along with several Shu artifacts.

When Ohval came back, she had a pot of tea on a tray with two cups. The ceramics of the tableware were beautiful as well. Flowers were delicately painted on the glass, covered in a gloss that made the cups shine.

Ohval sat across from Daemon and took a cup, pouring some tea in it. She nodded at Daemon to do the same, and the girl quietly obeyed. Ohval then performed the custom she had performed at the tea shop with Kaz and Nina. Daemon copied it respectfully.

"Your mother is dead, I assume," Ohval stated bluntly.

Daemon nodded, "Yes. That's what I've heard. I was told she was executed at the Little Palace."

"It's a shame. Freya was a good woman. And very strong too. I respected her."

To hear that Freya was a woman that Sankta Neyar herself handed respect to made Daemon proud of her mother. She barely remembered her mother, only because she was very young. She never got to fully experience what others may have seen of her. Now all she would have are the stories left behind. And Daemon would make it her mission to collect as many of those stories as she could.

"You helped my mother and I. I don't think I ever got to thank you for that. So thank you." Daemon wondered.

Ohval stuck her hand out, "Give it to me. What I gifted you."

Daemon took out the small device from her pocket and handed it over, "How did you know?"

"I sensed it," Ohval inspected the piece carefully, "How long?"

"About a week. I didn't have any memories of my past. Not until your poison," Daemon admitted.

"Your mother fought very hard for you to stay a secret and keep you far away from the Darkling. And now you are going to face him with your Shadows. Do you believe that to be wise, child?"

"No. I don't. But I don't have a choice. I won't abandon the people I love when they need me most. They need me there to help them fight Kirigan and eradicate the Fold. So that is where I'll be. Whatever the consequences of that are, i'll handle them myself," Daemon said firmly.
