Chapter 11: Everything Is Changing

A/N - I know it's been a while since I updated but from now on I'm going to be updating on a Friday night. I'll only be updating through the week if I get a chance so updates aren't going to be very often. I'm sorry but it's just because I'm so busy with school at the minute and I really need to focus on that so I'm kind of having to put writing to the bottom of my to do list at the minute. I know this chapter is short but I think I've just decided on a pretty big storyline for this and I'm pretty excited for when I get to write it. Anyway that's all and I hope you're enjoying this :)

Chapter 11: Everything Is Changing

We'd finally arrived in palm springs and all that was left to do now was check into the hotel. From what I could see of the outside this was definitely going to be fun!

The room keys were handed out and I followed Matt and Emeli to where we would be staying for the next week. I walked slowly behind whilst they spoke to each other, I had no idea what they were saying since I wasn't paying much attention to either of them. They began to slow down and turned towards a door, I guess this would be our rooms.

We dumped our bags at the door and began to walk around the place checking it out. We had two bedrooms with en-suites, a kitchen, living room and a balcony outside.

"you can choose which room you want, if you like?" I heard Matt tell me as I looked out of the window.

"um, yeah sure I'll take the one closest to the balcony. If that's okay?" I responded kind of nervously. I've no idea why, maybe it was just because I'm not used to being allowed to make my own decisions. When I lived with Val she always chose everything that happened. I'm still not used to being back with my dad either and I still get star struck at times. Wouldn't you though if you suddenly just found out your idols were your father and uncles? Well maybe one is less of an 'uncle' than the others but we'll just ignore him if he's going to be a dick.

"of course it's okay Lex. If you want you can unpack or lay down for a while or something then the three of us will go get some lunch if you're up for it?"

"I'll unpack then I might go find Vicky. How about I meet you and Emeli in the lobby in an hour?"

"sure thing"

I'd text Vicky and arranged to meet her by one of the pools that had barely anyone near it. I'd already unpacked by now and just wanted to get out of my room, I had no idea what to speak about with Matt so decided I'd just wait till lunch to see him.

"hey you" I heard a cheery voice say.

"hey Vic"

"so, you spoken to your dad anymore yet?"

"no not really, I just don't know what to say. Were going to lunch in a half hour though so I'm sure I'll have to talk then"

"you were fine on the way here though?"

"yeah I know I was but you were there so it wasn't so awkward it's as soon as it's just me him and Emeli. I can speak to her alone fine but as soon as he's there I've just no idea what to speak about"

"well thats what this vacations for isn't it? You have the perfect opportunity to get to know everyone or catch up with everyone again, you've missed a shit load of stuff over the years!"

"don't remind me, being stuck with Val all those years was bad enough" I let out a small chuckle.

"fuck, yeah sorry 'bout that. It must have been hell"

"it definitely was!"

"well lex you're here now and your not escaping from me, you're back in the avenged family and once you're part of it you can never leave" she had a huge smile on her face as she told me this and all I could think to do was pull her into a hug.

"believe me Vic I'm definitely not going to want to leave. We may have a few bumps along the road but you know what family doesn't?

"absolutely! I honestly can't wait to spend two weeks here either, this place is amazing"

"I know, I've had a quick look around the place on my way down here. It's going to be so much fun"

"you can bet it will be! Hey, are not supposed to be meeting uncle Matt now?" I checked the time quickly, I hadn't been paying any attention to it at all. It was a quarter past two already, I was supposed to meet them fifteen minutes ago. Fuck!"

"Shit! Yeah. Sorry Vicky I need to go I'm already late. I'll see you later I guess?"

"definitely, I'll see you when we all have dinner tonight"

I ran as fast as I could to try and get to the lobby I don't know how many things and people I almost ran into. I was going so fast and causing such a scene people were probably thinking I was being chased by a psycho or something right now. It's just my luck that I was running late, I'm not very good at keeping track of time you see. I just hope Matt and Emeli aren't too mad.
