For whatever reason, you end up staying awake the entire night right before the school festival. Maybe out of habit, maybe out of concern. Many people are stressing over their performance, huddled close together in one spot for a long time. For sure their cursed energy is bound to spike.
Thankfully, as you came to see, the talisman you've spread around the school's perimeter are doing their job perfectly, keeping most curses away.
And despite the lack of enemies to fight, you stayed up all night. Luckily enough you've gotten quite a lot of sleep lately. You don't go on patrols as often, you're always in bed by midnight with a full stomach after a hot shower. You've really only now adapted to living at UA. Before that, you were always on the move, never in the same city for too long. And truthfully, it's nice to have this kind of stability in your life. You're more relaxed than ever, never have to worry about getting fed or being covered in blood and grime.
Toshinori is a big reason why you've been able to live so comfortably. He always makes sure you ate, reminds you to bathe and go to bed. He even affirms you more than once a day that you don't have to worry about curses, the police, or your clan. The man is an angel in disguise you think, always taking care of others before his own self. It's also what worries you about him. He's a retired hero, skinny with no muscle. You fear he's going to collapse any second from the way he's coughing blood and constantly out of breath. But even then, he assures you that he's fine.
You came to realize that this hero mentality of being selfless is pissing you off. Even Satoru knows how to take better care of himself than these pros, and the guy is a thirty year old man child wallowing in constant despair.
You snap out of your thoughts when a familiar source of cursed energy comes closer. Just as you're about to leave the forest area of UA to get some breakfast at the dorms he just had to show up again.
Running towards the source, you notice someone else with him. Two other bodies with low cursed energy. One you've met before, and one you haven't. Upon reaching the scene, you see Midoriya fighting against the creepy guy that you apparently saved during the culling game as well as a small red haired girl. Kirishima's classmate is beat up and covered in dirt, standing on his last legs while the man is deflecting his attacks left and right.
"Midoriya!"
You call out to the boy to get the attention of all three, hoping they all turn their heads towards you. They stop in their tracks to gaze at you, some surprised and some annoyed.
"Gojo-sensei! Please don't contact the school!"
Midoriya goes back to fighting, trying to push back the man so he doesn't get closer to you, obviously trying to keep you out of harm's way.
"So we meet again. Say Gojo-san, what is someone of your status doing at a hero school? My curiosity is simply killing me."
You grit your teeth. This guy could reveal your secret to Midoriya right now and basically end your career. So why is he being so secretive about it? To taunt you? Maybe to spark a reaction. Whatever his reasoning is, you don't want to wait and find out about it and give him the chance to let your secret slip.
While the white haired man is busy fighting Midoriya, you go after the girl, running at her crouching figure and reaching out to grab her arms. She cries out and covers her face with her arms, body shaking in terror. But despite her trembling body, you can't bring yourself to feel sorry for her. Your eyes darken, your face drops its mask and your senses go numb the moment you grab her. The switch has been flipped and you're ready to eliminate.
Though you can't even get to that part. Before you can do anything else to the girl, the white haired man is kicking into your side, knocking you away from her. The girl cries the man's name, weeping into his arms. "Going after the weak is foul play, Gojo-san." Your brow twitches and your side aches. You get back up slowly, holding your left and squeezing where he kicked you. "I'm just going for the easiest target. And don't call me that!" You run at the man but get caught by an invisible force that bounces you back.
