Friday:
It was a day before the weekend and a lot of pairs were already scrambling to finish their experiments since it was the last day they can complete it in the laboratory and Monday will be the submission of the results along with the type-written report explaining its findings and the rationale behind it.
This made Fon sad because she knew this will be the final day of her being lab partners with her crush although she was happy because she got to know Kongkwan a little better and being able to talk to her because she can now confirm that she loves hearing Kongkwan's voice especially when she talks so passionately about Science and school even if Fon doesn't necessarily understand everything she is saying all the time, she just enjoys seeing the girl's enthusiasm and happiness while discussing formulations and theories up close within armslenth from her.
She even had an excuse to have her cellphone number that the brainy classmate gave to her during the first day they were assigned as lab partners even without Fon asking for it so Kongkwan can contact her about their Chemistry experimentation together. But so far all the text messages they had since then were all about their school project because Fon still doesn't have the guts to ask her anything else besides that. Sometimes she would even ask simple questions just for Kongkwan to reply to her phone because everytime her phone rings and sees the slightly taller girl's name on the notifications. She feels her heart skip a beat but in a good way even if it was just to answer some Chemistry question.
Her brothers knew about the texting after they saw Kongkwan's name popped up on their sister's phone during dinner through Sky's wandering eyes which led to numerous questions from the twins asking what they're talking about and if she asked her out yet but were disappointed by their sibling knowing all that they talk about is school and nothing personal just yet. They were even trying to give her some advice that includes some pickup lines which was heavily dismissed by Fon thinking how lame her brothers are and not understanding why men and women fall for them both at a weekly basis. She just reassures them that she just needs more time and for them to trust her.
She WILL ask Kongkwan out soon...
The siblings were on their usual table at the laboratory room where the twins were eating snacks before the start of their class while Fon had her head resting on her folded arms, both boys suddenly heard soft snores coming from their sister as Professor Pat entered the room so Neua slowly woke Fon up.
Neua: "Hey are you ok? Your eyes are a little swollen."
Fon: "I'm fine. I just slept a little late last night because I had to finish the chapter related to the final experiment we need to complete." she explained trying to check her face in the face powder mirror making sure she looks presentable.
Neua: "Yeah, about that. You have been sleeping late the whole week. Mom said your lights have been on till 2AM. It's not healthy."
Fon: "I'm fine, I just want to make sure I do well in this experimentation."
Sky: "Is Kongkwan making you study for this project?"
Fon: "Ha? No! I'm studying in my own will. No one is forcing me, especially Kongkwan." she sounded insulted from the insinuation from her brother especially since it painted Kongkwan as a bad lab partner.
Neua: "Well, I noticed from the past few days you ARE doing most of the physical work during laboratory class while she sits on her ass a lot." raising an eyebrow.
Fon: "So? It's what we both agreed on and I am the one who insisted on doing the physical work while she does the computations and measurements since she is better in those." getting slightly irritated by her brothers' judgement towards Kongkwan.
Sky: "We just don't want you to be taken advantage of."
Fon: "You know what, I may be the one with a few hours of sleep but you guys act like the ones who need a nap by the way you guys are talking. Seriously, I am a grown up. I know what I am doing and there is no way Kongkwan is taking advantage on me. Don't judge her like that." she said sternly before taking her books as she saw her laboratory partner approaching their table.
She gave her brothers one more look with a sad expression painted in her face thinking her brothers would think that way about both her and Kongkwan. Fon then sat beside her clever classmate and gave her a friendly smile which was reciprocated.
Kongkwan: "Are you ok? You seemed tired." she asked in a soft voice sounding concern.
Fon: "Huh, N-no. I'm fine. I-I just finished the chapter for the last experiment we're gonna do today."
Kongkwan: "Oh, you didn't have to do that. You know you can count of me when it comes to those."
Fon: "It's fine. I wanted to learn too." she dismissed it immediately but gave Kongkwan a small smile. "So, shall we finish the experiment?"
Kongkwan and Fon were almost done with the experimental side and they just needed to confirm one more test since they weren't sure with the result they initially had and they both decided to do it again.
Fon was boiling some solutions in a beaker using a Bunsen Bruner while Kongkwan who was a few meters away from her was preparing the solvent they will mix with once the liquid changes color after reaching a certain temperature. Fon was checking the temperature through the thermometer when suddenly the burner's flame doubled in size which caused the solution to boil more and splash some of it's contents towards Fon and hit her on the side of her right hand as she used it to cover herself while backing away.
Everyone in their table saw the whole incident and hurriedly came towards her with Kongkwan turning off the flame first to not cause further incidents and problems before rushing towards Fon who was now being checked primarily by her brothers as they looked incredibly concerned for their sister asking her numerous questions while the younger sibling was trying hard not to cry due to the pain and burning sensation she is feeling right now.
Professor Pat immediately brought her to the emergency laboratory sink to wash off possible chemicals that were on her hand and rushed her immediately to the clinic with both twins and Kongkwan following behind.
Once they arrived at the clinic, the nurse asked the 3 students to stand outside for a bit and she will call them as soon as the clinic isn't that crowded since there are some students inside needing medical attention as well.
Before Kongkwan was able to wrap her head about the accident since it happened so fast, she was hurriedly bombarded with questions by both brothers.
Neau: "What happened to her?"
Sky: "How can you let this happen?"
