VIII - How We Screwed Up

The whole ride home was silent between the siblings that you can only hear the sound of the engine running for 15 minutes with no one wanting to open their mouths until they arrived home where Fon went out first from the backseat taking her bag with her and slammed the door rather harshly making the twins flinch from the front seats.

The boys followed her inside their home which was empty since their parents won't be home until dinner time. They saw their sister in the kitchen drinking water then continued to hold the  glass with her uninjured hand rather tightly.

The 3 siblings stood still for a minute or two not knowing what to do or say with Fon standing at the opposite side of the kitchen island from her brothers giving them a blank stare trying to read their expressions which were a combination of nervousness and guilt. She then put the glass down the island loud enough to get their attention.

Fon: "What did you say to Kongkwan?"

The twins looked at her knowing they kind of screwed up big time.

Fon: "And don't you lie to me, I can tell if any of you are lying." pointing at their direction.

Neua: "Listen, we were scared ok? We were very concerned about your condition earlier when you were in the clinic and not knowing if you were fine since we were sent outside and you were in pain and your hand was very red; we were very nervous and emotionally wrecked that we kind of let out out frustration towards Kongkwan." he slightly whispered the last sentence but Fon heard it clearly.

Fon: "Again, what did you say to her?" her voice lowered an octave than usual which kind of scared her brothers.

Fon doesn't usually get mad but when she does.. she get MAD.. MAD! And the twins knew it a little too well.

Sky looked at Neua for help since he is known to usually say the wrong thing but he also knew that whatever his brother would say right now will STILL be the wrong thing but Neua will atleast give a concise answer.

Nuea: *sighs* "We kind of blame her for what happened to you and told her it wouldn't have happened if she wasn't sitting on her ass the whole time and not give you the bulk of the project which caused you to have less sleep for the past week. While Sky told Kongkwan that she might have been abusing your kindness and using it to her advantage in the project.. I also told her that she better not have said something to make you feel inferior to her." slowly making eye-contact towards his sister as he was shaking in his boots.

Fon couldn't believe what she just heard. Everything they have said to Kongkwan sounded demeaning and hurtful especially knowing how her brothers' tones would be.

She started to approach them cautiously while they didn't bother to move an inch seeing the anger in the younger girl's eyes; once Fon was closer to them she stood still but looked up to them like she didn't care that they kind of tower over her.

Fon: "You mean to tell me that you basically insulted my crush, accused her, said demeaning things and basically told her that it was all her fault why the accident happened?" she stuck her left pointer finger on Neua's chest then transferred towards Sky's chest upon finishing her sentence. 

The simultaneously gulped and nodded slowly.

Fon" You both are such idiots! I- I-I can't believe you two! I explained to you both that Kongkwan had NOTHING to do with me pulling all nighters in studying for the past week. Isn't that what you are suppose to do when you like someone? To atleast try to show some interest in their likes and hobbies? I just wanted to show her I am NOT an idiot and that I can be helpful to her since she isn't used to other students helping her because she ALWAYS does the work and her previous groups or partners just sits down on their asses doing nothing. I was the only one she met who was willing to help her out and YOU guys have the audacity to implicate her and say that she is abusing my kindness into getting what she wants when that is basically her life in general? She didn't even want me to do anything the first time we talked about the project but I insisted because that is what a responsible and respectful partner in a project would do. Because she never had one. And "Making me feel inferior"? She is basically being bullied in school regularly by those cheerleaders and your fellow jocks. Hell, even you guys were laughing at her when her books fell a few days ago and only stopped when scolded you both. How much more inferior can she feel in that school every single day being labeled as the "Class Nerd"? Almost everything you guys said to her is basically you guys describing her daily life! How can you be so inconsiderate?"

Fon's eyes were already watery trying her hardest not to shed tears in front of her brothers not wanting to look vulnerable because ever since they were kids, she was brought up to be strong and take no shit from anyone especially when growing up with rowdy and mischievous brothers. So she is used to become less emotional and sensitive but this situation is striking a nerve towards her and her siblings.

She ran up towards their stairs taking her bag along leaving her brothers at the kitchen and slamming the door of her bedroom then plopped on her bed making the tears fall done freely this time within the confines and privacy of those four walls.

Sky: "We fucked up so much haven't we?" looking at the stairs with a frown on his face.

Neua: " *sighs* "We did. That and so much more."  hanging his head in shame. "We need to fix this." sitting on the kitchen island with his hands on his head.

Sky: "How?"

Neua: "I have no idea." putting his hands in the air in frustration.
