Brothers, I Think I Have A Crush (Kongkwan-Fon)

VI- The Guilt

Neau: "What happened to her?"

Sky: "How can you let this happen?"

Kongkwan looked at the twins like a deer in headlights not knowing how to respond nor what to say since she wasn't exactly sure what happened as she was busy mixing compounds the were  needed for the experiment to see the exact incident with Fon and the boiling solution.

Kongkwan: "I-I don't know what happened. I w-was busy doing something else to see what happened..." she tried explaining the best she can but as rarely as it was being a person who gives rational answers; she stammered during her whole sentence as her mind went blank.

Sky: "Or you were busy sitting on you ass the whole the week!"

The female student stopped her train of thought that was trying to recall every event that happened to the best of her abilities due to the the remark Sky said to her.

Nuea: "None of this would have happened if you haven't got our sister worked up about this project. Aren't you suppose to be the smart one? Why make Fon do all the hardwork during lab? You don't think we see that?" 

Kongkwan: "I-I am not making Fon do all the work.. She insisted.." but was interrupted.

Nuea: "Really? She insisted in doing all the work while you keep you nose glued to your notes and books the whole time not having the initiative of atleast help her with the physical aspects of the work?"

Sky: "We've been classmates for a while now and we never see you let anyone do the work but you. Why is Fon different? Is it because she is too nice that you took advantage of her and let her do the work for a change?"

Kongkwan felt attacked from the accusations of the brothers towards her and she wanted to clear it all but she was intimidated from their stares and it didn't help that they were bigger than her.

She was about to say something but was interrupted by Professor Pat coming back out and called their attention.

Professor Pat: "Fon is fine, I was able to wash away the remaining chemicals before she was brought here where she was treated thankfully with only a first degree burn on her right hand." The 3 student simultaneously left out a sigh of relief. "But she is still in pain, the nurse gave her medications with a sedative so she may be a little drowzy by now but if you want to see her, you may but only 2 people at a time first please since it is still quite crowded in there. Do you need me to contact your parents?" Looking at the twins expectedly.

Nuea: "No Sir, we can tell them what happened. We are just thankful it was nothing serious. Thank you for taking care of her immediately." Sky nodded and they both bowed down to show their respects.

Professor Pat: "Ok, I have to head back to the laboratory. You three can be excused for today's class." he gave them a small smile before leaving the 3 students and headed back to the classroom.

There was an awkward silence for a few seconds before Sky cleared his throat and told Neua he will see Fon now before glancing at Kongkwan who was looking at the ground feeling guilty of her lab partner's situation before entering the clinic.

Nuea: "She hasn't had a good night's sleep for a week now because she was busy studying Chemistry; I believe she was trying to impress you but I hope you didn't make her feel inferior to you at any time you were lab partners." he said coldly towards his girl classmate who was still staring at the floor as he followed his brother inside leaving Kongkwan outside who caught a glimpse of Fon lying in the clinic bed with her hand being bandaged up by the nurse with sporting a grimace on her slightly red face probably from the pain she was experiencing but she still looked adorable in Kongkwan's opinion. She can see the girl was having heavy eyes as the sedative was taking a hit already but they made a split second eye contact as the door closed shut separating each other.

Kongkwan leaned against the wall in facing the clinic, not knowing what to do if she would wait for more students to leave so she can enter or just return to the classroom instead. She wanted to see Fon and make sure she was feeling better because that split second look they had concluded nothing for her as she was still anxious about her classmate's health even if the professor told them she is fine because her face says otherwise. But she also thought that Fon was going to be in a slumber after a few minutes because of the medication so she won't be able to talk to her along with the fact, she knows very well that her brothers wouldn't want to see her face right now since they blame her for Fon's accident.

Now she had some time to reflect, she does feel guilty giving Fon a bulk of the work while she was mainly tasked to do the analytical work. Kongkwan wasn't used to people helping her out and she usually ends up doing all the work which she didn't mind and prefers it so for them teaming up this week; she doesn't know how to divide the work equally and she felt she may have unfairly split the workload.

Kongkwan: "Was Fon having a hard time all along? Why didn't she tell me if she did? I would have done it all if she did. What did Nuea mean when he said "she was trying to impress me?" And did I made her feel inferior that she had to loss sleep just to study for our subject together? I'm sorry if I did." putting her hands on her face trying to remember any moment that she may have done, said or texted to her classmate that may have made Fon question her intelligence or offended her, but she couldn't think of anything. "Maybe was it during the times I was questioning her about the experiment and kept asking her if she understood its principles? Or how I explained things to her? Did it sound harsh? Did I sound sarcastic when I answer her inquiries?" Fon was a sweet, smart, charming and helpful student who was kind enough to show her some respect and care towards her and Kongkwan was excited that Fon looked interested in what she was saying when she was discussing about Chemistry. Now Kongkwan thought that she may have just blew the chance of actually having someone with those traits in her life since she does not have that much friends or people she can count on especially in school where she feels like a loner.

She felt vulnerable at the hallways right now but she made up her mind and decided to be repay Fon's kindness and be a good lab partner and finish the experiment now and just do the rest of the work by her own and let the girl in the clinic rest up and not worry about anything else just like what she originally planned but was debunked by Fon who wanted to help but look where it got her. 

Kongkwan: "I shouldn't have agreed to that in the first place. I'm sorry Fon, I should've known better." as she returned to the laboratory.
