I could easily fall in love with her
From the way she bites her lip without noticing
To the smile that ghosts across her face
I knew she had me from that first-ever look
I try to keep my distance
Because I know it wouldn't take much
Not with the way her eyes pierce through me
Certainly not with how her hair curls around my fingers
She's a close friend
And nothing more
Because I couldn't handle it
The inevitable heartbreak
She bought me my favorite candy
She didn't even ask
And she worried about me
When I didn't have the strength to care
I refuse to get closer than I already am
Because I'm scared
She'll see the pull she has on me
I'll do anything
It isn't possible
She wants things I can't give her
A family
A normal relationship
So, I could easily fall in love with her
But I refuse
Because neither of us deserves the heartbreak
That will inevitably happen
