It hurts seeing her with him
Her face smiling
Eyes filled with that sparkle
That used to be reserved for me
He leans over to kiss her
And my heart aches
Because that used to be us
Not even a month ago
What hurts most though
Is the betrayal
He was my best friend
She was my girlfriend
was
God how I hate that word
We were both at the edge of the cliff
But when I took a trust fall
She flew
And it hurts more than I thought it would
But it shouldn't hurt
Because it was already over
Before she broke it off
Before he turned her way
He asked for permission
Before asking her out
And me, being the idiot
Said it didn't matter
But it did
