Edgar Allan Poe sat at his desk, his pen scratching across the page as he worked on a new story. He was so engrossed in his work that he didn't notice the door to his study open and Ranpo slip inside.Ranpo moved quietly across the room, not wanting to disturb Edgar. He knew how important writing was to him and he didn't want to disrupt his creative process. But as he watched Edgar hunched over his desk, his brow furrowed in concentration, Ranpo couldn't help but feel a surge of affection.
Finally, Edgar looked up and saw Ranpo standing in the doorway. He smiled, a genuine, warm smile that made Ranpo's heart skip a beat.
"What brings you here, my dear?" Edgar asked, setting his pen aside.
"I just wanted to check on you," Ranpo said, moving closer to Edgar's desk. "You've been working so hard lately. I thought you might need a break."
Edgar chuckled. "You always know just what I need," he said, reaching out to take Ranpo's hand.
Ranpo stepped closer to Edgar's desk, leaning down to peer at the manuscript he'd been working on. "What are you working on?" he asked, his eyes scanning the page.
"It's a new horror story," Edgar said, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "I think it's going to be my best one yet."
Ranpo smiled. "I have no doubt it will be," he said, running a finger down the page. "But maybe you should take a break first. We could go for a walk, or have some tea together."
Edgar considered for a moment, then nodded. "You're right," he said. "A break would do me good."
Ranpo grinned, feeling a sense of satisfaction. He loved being able to take care of Edgar, to be the one who made him smile and brought joy into his life.
As they left the study and headed outside, Ranpo slipped his hand into Edgar's, feeling the warmth of his skin against his own. The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing, ruffling their hair and carrying the scent of flowers on the wind.
As they walked through the garden, Edgar couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over him. With Ranpo by his side, he felt like anything was possible. He knew that life was uncertain and that there were no guarantees, but with Ranpo's love and support, he felt like he could face anything.
As they sat down for tea, Ranpo couldn't help but steal glances at Edgar, admiring the way the sun glinted off his hair and the way his eyes sparkled when he talked about his writing. He knew that he loved Edgar with every fiber of his being, and he was grateful for every moment they shared together.
Edgar caught his gaze and smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "What are you thinking about?" he asked.
"Just how lucky I am," Ranpo said, reaching out to take Edgar's hand in his own. "To have you in my life."
Edgar's smile grew wider. "The feeling is mutual," he said, leaning in to press a kiss to Ranpo's lips.
As they sat there, sipping their tea and basking in the warmth of each other's company, Ranpo couldn't help but feel like the luckiest person in the world. With Edgar by his side, anything was possible.
