The past week I've kept to myself as much as I could, I could only hide from Finnick for so long. He knows me better than I do, so I let him stay by my side or make him train me .

"Buttercup, I know your here. don't make me find you again" Finnick yells out not far from where I was sitting behind a rock by our cave we claimed as ours.

Recently I have been helping the less fortunate people of the district by putting my name down instead of their so they have a less chance of getting reaped and for me. I don't care anymore, if Sofia dies, that is on me. she took my place and I can't save her.

"I'm here Finnick" I whisper as I see him about to pass me.

"I know you feel like it should be you preparing for the games but Sofia made her choice and I can't say I blame her. Addison you are the glue that keeps us all together like it or not we all need you." Finance sits by my side not touching me as he learnt his lesson from last time he tried to pull me away from putting my name down.

"let me tell you this Finnick, you won, then my brother the following year. you really think Snow will let district 4 have another victor in a row?" I face him as tears roll down my face.

"no, I don't think Snow will want it that way but you haven't seen the videos of the game this year and she goes in the arena tomorrow morning." Finnick starts as I cut him off.

"I'm broken Finnick I had to watch you go through this and then my brother and Sofia who has kept me from breaking the past 2 years is now in the games I was meant to be in Finn. It was meant to be. how do I go on from this" I broke down as I finally let finnick pull me into his arms.

"they call her the Protector, she has many sponsors and so far the odds are in her favour she pulled a score of 10. she's fighting to come home, she needs you to hold on buttercup. don't give up just yet" Finnick kisses my forehead as pull away.

"I need to see her interview before I miss it" I yell finally snapping out of self pity that I have been in for 7 days.

I grab Finnick hand and bolt to the victors Village in hope I make it in time to see my best friend on the screen. I hear Finnick stumble and laugh trying to not fall over.

"Did I miss it Mags, has Fia come on the stage yet?" I call out running into the house.

"No Addy, you made it just in time for Daniel's interview. she's on after him" Eric replies as Mags kisses my forehead and passes me a cold drink.

"love, remind me never to challenge you to a race" Finnick yells out after me clearly slacking off.

"maybe you're getting slow sugarcube" I wink at him as falls on the lounge next to me and steals the rest of my water.

"what is with y'all and stealing my water" I laughs as Finnick and Eric flinch.

"Shh children" Mags says that catches our attention. she doesn't speak much anymore but when she does it catches our attention.

"final question Daniel is what is it like to have Sofia Odair relative of Finnick Odair as your tribute partner?"Caesar asks as Daniel smirks.

"well I'm a career through and through. I don't need a tribute like her to help me. I don't need anyone but my alliance which does not include your precious 'Protector'. As for her relation to Finnick they couldn't be more different, I wished he was my mentor but doesn't matter i'll be here in this spot in a few weeks time. mark my words" Daniel smirks as the crowd goes wild.

"I hope Fia takes him down first" I snap as Finnick laughs and kisses my forehead with the words of 'she will'.

"please welcome, you know her and love her, the 'Protector' Sofia Odair from District 4" Caesar yells out as Sofia walks out in this gorgeous dress. The dress falls like crashing waves.
