Chapter 21

I immediately shoot my hands up in the air, signaling not to fire his arrow at me.

I lift my head a bit to see behind the hooded masked man in this room dimly lit by lanterns, I see a large chest open full of different shiny golden and silver objects, half buried in a sea of round shaped Eu of various different colors with different characters on them.

"Well looks like I've found my treasure, but apparently this guy is here for the exact same reason. Maybe I can bargain with him and split it?" I think as I turn my attention back to the hooded masked man. "There's... something not right about him, but I can't tell what exactly."

With the hood and mask covering 85% of his face, all I can see is his familiar black pupiless eyes and the dark brown skin and complexion similar to mine around his thin eyebrows, eyelids and long lashes.

Suddenly his black eyes wide for a few seconds, before lowering his bow, causing the bow and arrow to dematerialize into tiny but thick dark purple particles.

I reluctantly lower my hands.

"So we cool now?" I whisper.

Almost immediately after I finished briefly speaking, his eyes widen as several small blue and white sparkles quickly fill up his eyes, almost as if I was looking up at the stars in the dead of night, with one large white star in the center of his eyes where the pupils would be.

Then just as quickly, all of the stars in his eyes disappear immediately, just for him to suddenly lunge at me full speed.

I instinctively put my hands up to try and attempt to block any attack he does to me, but instead of attacking he simply firmly grabs the front of my shirt and throws himself backwards through the air, yanking me with him, before slamming our backs onto the surface of the wall closest to the door I entered earlier.

Just then, the moment my back crashes into the wall I feel a presence right outside the door and a single second later the door to the left of us gets swung open full force, crashing into the wall just as we did.

But that single second is all the time I needed to react.

I instantly react and instinctively throw my arm up to the hooded man's chest to create a Trickster bubble around us both while he quickly resummons  that large purple bow in his hands once again, but this time aimed at the door instead of me.

I put up my left hand gesturing him to wait. "We're fine." I whisper to him, before swiveling my head around to see who I assume to be the prince walking through the door.

My heart immediately sinks and my mouth drops as this 7 to 8 foot large furry beast dips his head under the door to walk into the room. As he steps into the room snarling I can more clearly see some of his features, his large claws covered in scales, bright blue fur, large brown ram-like horns sitting atop his head, fangs sticking up out of his mouth on his human like face.

Then I notice that he's dressed in the most elegant of blue suits I've seen. A large long robe covered in various diamond buttons and golden shackles with a bright blue rose crest sitting on the breast of the robe, a blue hue almost identical to the hue of his round eyes and fur, with some type of golden ornament at the top of chest area and large white fur covering around the collar.

My heart skips a beat with ever step his large furry overgrown feet makes towards us.

He walks right in front of us and then stops before tilting his face upwards in the air and taking huge inhales of air at a time.

He's sniffing... for us, I suppose. But that shouldn't work right? I completely erased any traces of our presence while we're in my Trickster bubble, so he should t be able to detect us... right?
