Inverted Deck (Chapter 48)

Chapter 48

"Hey! Eyes over here!" I hear Ja'Krob yell from a distance.

"Ja-!" I open my eyes immediately to see the future Ja'Krob, from the dream from earlier.

"I'm back here again!? What about the carriage, and the attack on the capital!? Don't tell me I'm unconscious again."

Ja'Krob stomps his heavy left foot, causing the stone rubble around him to rise. He then takes his gold covered arm and swats the rubble towards me and Future Finn, before making it rise slightly above us with his golden Aether.

"Single Pair Technique: Golden Expanse." Ja'Krob says as he shoots his gold covered arm up at the sky.

Suddenly, the small rubbles he swatted up, quickly grow in size and numbers, and the sun is blotted out by a shower of raining boulders.

"No... way..." I say as I stare up in awe as my heart begins to pick up pace.

Older Finn smiles and looks my way.

"Wanna see something cool?" He asks calmly.

"If it'll keep us from becoming pancakes sure why not!" I yell out.

Future Finn takes the Twilight Fang and plunges it into the ground.

"Environmental Aether: Crescent Garden!!"

The ground begins to vibrate ever so slightly but enough that it's noticeable, as I watch black and silver Aether pump into the ground.

"Hey, those rocks are getting awfully close!" I yell out.

Future Finn grasps Twilight Fang, the pulling it out of the ground, releasing hundreds of giant blank and silver rotating crescent slashes shooting up at the sky.

The spontaneous spawning rotating crescent slashes slice and grind up the boulders at an exponentially fast rate, reducing it nothing more than a rain of pebbles.

I hold my hand out and watch as the pebbles fall right through my arm and hand.

"That's right, I'm not really here. This is the equivalent to dreaming, waking up, going back to sleep and continuing where you left off in the previous dream."

Future Finn walks through the rain of rubble as if it's not even there.

"You couldn't have truly thought that would be enough, did you friend?" Future Finn asks.

Future Ja'Krob reaches to his back, pulling out a relic sword, one slightly larger than the Summer Brander relic he used before, with two thin blades stemming from the hilt, one golden, the other red.

"Using Freyja's relic eh? I see you're finally getting serious now. Well, I'll pay you back with the same patronage and get serious my self!" Future Finn yells out as he releases a huge Ripple Step towards Ja'Krob causing the ground around him to crack immensely.

Ja'Krob holds the twin bladed relic up to his face.

"Sea of Tears: Red."

The relic starts glowing a bright red, before Ja'Krob swings the large relic through the ground, sending out a red, ice-like, spiky substance, towards Finn.

The relic's attack quickly covers the ground, as it continues to crawl towards Finn, but Finn reactively leaps towards the side of hill and begins running along the side of it.

Finn gets closer and closer to Ja'Krob in a matter of seconds, but Ja'Krob lowers the twin bladed relic and holds up the other relic sword with the etchings embedded into the side of the blade.
