Chapter 14

 Dani double checked her backpack to make sure she was prepared. She had checked and it was going to be about a three and a half hour hike. They had packed lunches so they could stop and have a break halfway through. It was a straight shot, six miles one way and then six miles back. Yeah, it was a long hike but she'd read the amazing views were worth it, including a waterfall. Dani was really excited because she'd never seen a waterfall in real life before.

"We have extra water, snacks, sandwiches, a compass, a first aid kit, sunscreen, matches, and sweatshirts just in case it gets chilly," Dani said to Eddie, swinging her backpack over her shoulders.

"I got condoms," Eddie grinned, grabbing his own backpack.

Dani shoved him in the chest, "Seriously, you better have more than that, you perv."

"How am I a perv? Because I want to romantically make love to my girl in the woods surrounded by nature's beauty? That makes me a perv?" he gasped, fingers splayed on his chest in shock.

"No, I guess not," she admitted, "but seriously, you better have more than just some condoms."

"I do," he snorted. "Geez, Dani. Give me some credit. I also brought a blanket so you don't get all dirty or scratched up as I'm railing you into the ground so hard that Bambi runs away from the terrifying screams of pleasure you're making."

"Oh my god!" laughed Dani, shaking her head. "You are completely hopeless. We are going to die in the wilderness so you can get some."

"Ahh, but we'll die happy," Eddie added, swinging his arm around her waist and pulling her close. "Come on. Can you think of a better way to go?"

Dani pressed her lips together as if in deep thought and he gasped, bumping into her playfully. She laughed, wrapping her arms around him and shaking her head.

"No. Honestly, no I can't. But seriously, Eddie, do you have all the stuff you need?"

"Yes," he sighed. "I have snacks and water and my lunch. I'm not quite like you who had to research what to bring on a hike and pack a duffel bag for the day, but I am not going to die of thirst or hunger in the woods."

"I just like to be prepared," Dani stated in defense of herself. "We are heading off into the woods where there are animals in a place we don't know. What if we hike for three hours and you fall down and hurt yourself? Are you really going to want to walk back all dripping blood and hurt? Hence, first aid kit."

"Why am I the one falling?" he asked.

"Because you're the clumsiest of the two of us."

Eddie paused for a moment and then shrugged, "Fair enough. Alright. We ready to get our wilderness exploring on?"

"Yep. Let's do it."

"Ladies first," he smirked, waving his arm out. "Besides, then I get to look at that ass while we hike."

Dani rolled her eyes but began walking. They passed the trailhead, following the path for the Piedra Lisa Trail.

"Damn, that's the best view I am going to see all day," Eddie called from behind her, letting out a low whistle.

"Jesus," she muttered. "Put it in your pants, Munson. We're here to hike."

"You're here to hike. I am here to find a glorious spot to get you naked so I can ravish you in the woods like the wild beast that I am." He hurried up to her side and dropped his face next to her, growling in her ear.

"You're already a wild beast, with a glorious mane," she teased, grabbing his hair and gently tugging.

"Don't I know it, baby," he agreed, tossing his head back with laughter.
