I have led a pretty aimless life for almost a hundred years. For my end was predestined. So, I never found it necessary to truly make an effort to know what I want in life. What my goal is.

But as I held the most precious soul in my arms, his tears like thorns to my undead heart, my mind whispered, boldy so.

This person, I want to keep him safe.
I want to protect him with every fibre of my being.
I want to cherish him with all my love-

Love?

Hyunjin had stopped crying. Soft snifles were all that reached my ears. His heart was beating loudly against mine. He shifted slightly, his face low and covered with luscious disheveled hair. I moved the hairstrands and tucked them behind his ears so I could see his pretty eyes which still refused to meet mine. I could only see his cheeks grow flushed at my touch, touch he leaned into. I cupped his face with my hands and made him look up at me.

"Hey." Was all my poor mouth could utter. His gaze, so captivating, had my tongue tied.

"Hey." He muttered. His eyes were still sparkling with traces of tears and a glint of shyness.

Neither of us spoke for quite a while. Our eyes were enough to convey the secrets of our heart.

But then finally he spoke again, perhaps after reading the dreadful doubt in my eyes."What's wrong?"

"Hyunjin, are you sure you are not disgusted by me? I mean I get that you aren't scared. And I am glad. But this whole trueblood thing doesn't repulse you?"

"Are you disgusted my me? I mean...me being a former pole dancer and a single mother doesn't repulse you?" He questioned back.

"No! Of course not-" I quickly clarified.

Why would he even speak those words?

"Then why would I be disgusted of you? For something that is a part of who you are." Hyunjin smile, "We aren't too different you know. Pole dancer and a Trueblood Vampire, both creatures of the night."

I chuckled in awe.

How can someone be so...him!

"But we...don't really know much about each other. I mean other than the entire part I just mentioned." Hyunjin pointed out.

"So let's get to know each other. I want go know you Hyunjin." My lips went closer towards him. And when he didn't move away, they kissed his forehead softly.

His eyes fluttered shut in response. And when they opened, wide and flustered, he instantly got up and bowed ninety degrees before scurrying away to him room. I could only stare in shock. Another chuckle escaped my heart.

I went upstairs myself to freshen up. And I may have halted outside the door to his room. Call it delusional but I think I could sense his back leaning against it on ther inside. His heart thumping erratically. For the first time I thanked the moon for my super hearing ability.

He is too cute for my poor soul!

The next morning arrived way too late for my liking. For it was only at breakfast time when I could see my Hyunjin again. After taking a warm shower I hastily put on a pair of trousers and a shirt before leaving my room. I stopped in front of his room again, but I couldn't hear his heartbeats in there anymore. Realising that he must have gone to the ground floor already, I too ran down the stairs. Of course, for the last few steps, I pretended to be calm and composed and deceleration my feet.
