Morning had arrived. The shy sun rays creeped into the sky to paint it rainbow. The trueblood opened the curtains so the room was more brightened. I turned around to see his daughter hugging her wolfie as she sat on her bed, grinning widely at her chipmunk like samchon.
"Yeji is perfectly fine." Jisung told Chan when the older seated himself beside his daughter. "Just make sure she eats well and gets lots of sleep."
Yeji was showered with cuddles by her samchon before he took his farewell. Chan walked out of the room along with Jisung to see him off.
"Thank you Sungie."
Jisung smiled, "The benefits of having a pediatrician in the family."
"I'll visit soon." Chan said.
"You have to. With your husband and your daughter. Oh and I didn't say this in her room, but Yeji-ah needs continously reassurance. This sort of trauma at such a young age can lead to long term consequences such as anxiety."
Chan nodded. The younger waved him bye, then went down the stairs. Jisung was the last one of to leave house after the trueblood's parents and other donsaeangs.
The blonde went back inside his daughter's room to see her alseep on the bed, hugging her wolfie close to her. She looked exhausted, but finally serene.
"Sleep well, angel." Chan brushed her hair gently before he closed the blinds and left the room.
And then he walked into another one. His own room. Where Hyunjin was resting. The now white haired man was fed three cups of blood as soon as he had woken up a couple of hours ago, when it was still dark. The trueblood knew that Hyunjin would need to go for hunting to quench his real thirty as a newly turned vampire. But he couldn't tell that to his husband yet. How would he? Hyunjin hadn't spoke a word since he awoke.
The trueblood saw Hyunjin in fresh changed clothes half covered under the blanket with his back against the bedframe, staring out of the window. Just as he sensed Chan's presence, the younger averted his face further, covering up his burn scar with his undone hair.
The wound was dressed and healed quickly due to Hyunjin's recently attained superhuman abilities. But a mark had been left on his skin.
Chan walked up to his mate, sitting down with his knees on the floor before Hyunjin. The younger closed his eyes at once. They slowly opened when his hands on his lap was held. The trueblood brushed his thumb soothingly over the younger's knuckles. Their gaze met. A lone tear trickled down Hyunjin's face.
"Why are you crying?" Chan asked, feeling Hyunjin's pain in his own soul.
"I am your true mate." Hyunjin said.
"You are upset about that...Hyunjin, I'm sorry I had to give you the mating mark without your per-"
"That's not...don't apologize. You saved me. Even though I don't deserve to be saved. I don't deserve to be your true mate Christopher. I can't be yours, not when I have...already been others'."
"If you think those words will make me not want you, you couldn't be more wrong. The only thing they make me want to do is tear off the skin of those who dared to touch yours against your will. Hyunjin..." Chan brought the younger's hand upon his chest.
Hyunjin's face lit up, his eyes relieved.
"You hear that. I was born with a lifeless heart. It's beating for the first time. Because of you. My true mate."
