COEXISTENCE:

●In this AU Humans and Vampires co-exist.
While some humans eagerly befriend vampires, others are both skeptical and fearful of these blood sucking beings. Their fear can't be called totally unreasonable because just like among humans, both the good and bad kind exists, there are bad vampires along with good ones.

The question is: who do you think is more dangerous, a good vampire or a bad human?

●While many humans envy the so called immortality of vampires and a lot of vampires themselves take pride in it, few of these undead creatures would consider immortality a curse rather than a blessing. For living an eternity with a heart that doesn't beat is something not everyone desires. However, vampires have the ability to find the solution this problem- their mates.

HUMAN BIOLOGY: (Don't worry, I am not about to teach y'all science 🤡)

Before understanding how the vampire body works, first I will explain the human procreation process in this story. Any couple be it boyxboy, girlxgirl or boyxgirl, can have biological children. We have the carriers/bottoms who carry the fetus and the non carriers/tops who impregnates the carriers. And no, neither do male bottoms have additional vaginas nor do female tops have addition penises. If in a boyxgirl couple, the boy is the carrier and the girl is the non carrier then the boy becomes pregnant. This ff literally has immortal blood sucking creatures so we can ignore another technicality too.

VAMPIRES:

1. Speed and Strength

•They have immaculate speed and can swiftly climb up on tree, both qualities help them during hunting.
• On average a vampire has the strength of a sum of ten average humans. However, some vampires are definitely more powerful than others, just like some humans are more powerful than other humans.

2. Heart and Blood

•A human can be turned into a vampire by small doze of venom from another vampire's bite.
•Vampire babies (rare) + humans turned vampires stop aging only at 25 years old. And humans over the age of 25 cannot be turned into vampires.
•A vampire's heart doesn't beat and is unable to pump blood even prior to the age of 25 till as long as they continue to exist.
•Vampires can have human food and water but just for enjoyment or show. It's simply optional. But it doesn't sustain them. Since their hearts are unable to pump blood on their own, they need to drink blood from outside sources in order to quench their "thirst" and keep on existing. And due the the lack of their own blood they appear pale and their skin is ice cold.
•On mutual agreement between humans and vampires to attain truce, killing humans to drink their blood was made illegal for vampires. They can however purchase human blood from blood banks. Inspite of all these rules some evil vampires continue to kill humans just for fun.

2. Mates and Aging

•Vampires are monogamous and mate for life. Once they choose and mark their partner during the mating procedure their hearts start beating again. But a mated pair's hearts beat only when they are close to one another and they still can't pump blood. Mated vampires (regardless of the fact whether they get mated before or after the age of 25) lose their immortality. But they can live upto 1000 years. Their aging is very slow.

To be precise,
10 human years = 1 vampire year
So, a vampire ages by one year with every decade.

Also, a mated pair when close to each other no longer appear pale and their skin becomes the same temperature as humans.

3. Trueblood:

•Just like humans, vampires too can be carriers and non carriers regardless of their gender. Human turned vampires still have the same reproduction capabilities as they did when they were human.
•However, two vampires must never create a biological vampire child. As aforesaid, vampire babies are extremely rare. And such a vampire from birth is called called a trueblood.
•A trueblood is said to possess immense and often uncontrollable power. And by a century old curse called the "Curse of the Blood Moon" a trueblood is never immortal. They can only live upto one hundred (human) years. And then they will meet with the most dreadful end. The only way to escape such a horrid fate is to find a mate.

4. True Mate:

•If a trueblood marks anyone other than their true mate, though the trueblood will be able to escape their horrifying death, the person they had marked would have to suffer from that death instead. The trueblood will then become mateless and will be able to live for a 100 more years. An evil trueblood can continue to use and mark several innocents to keep on increasing their own life span.
•Only if a trueblood marks their true mate, the pair can become soulmates and live like other mated vampires.
•A true mate of a trueblood can be either a human or a vampire and is said to have the purest of heart, a heart which can ground the power of a trueblood.

Note: A vampire and a human can also become a couple, and usually the human is turned into a vampire once their partner marks them and the two are mated.
