Not All Humans

CHAPTER 8

"You... saw him, Mylis...?" Xena asks, her glare getting worse.
"Yes... yes, I did! I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I- I meant to! I promise!..." Mylis pleaded, gripping Xena's arms as she was still in the air because of Xena holding her by her collar. She's fearful of Xena in this state, and she feels like Xena has completely changed.

"Oh, really now? You 'meant to tell me' but didn't even bother this entire time?" Xena says sickly calm.
"I-I didn't want to ruin the mood...! W-Why would I want to mention that-that someone was stalking us when w-we were finally able to hang out together..?!" Mylis protests, now struggling to get out of Xena's grip. She doesn't like being in this position.

Xena lets her go, but Mylis falls to the ground with a wince. 'What the hell...? She never would let me fall...' Mylis thinks to herself.
Xena glares down at her, expression cold. Mylis looks back up at her.
"Xena...?" She timidly asks, "What's... wrong?"
"You didn't bother to tell me. Who's to say you weren't working with that boy, hmmm?" Xena ponders, "You humans are all the same..."
Mylis gets confused, "Wh-what the hell are you talking about...?! Xena, why would I work with that guy?! I care about you!! I'd never try to hurt you!!" Mylis finally hops up and gets close to Xena, but not in a threatening manner, "I know you're mad, and that's okay! But please, think logically...!" Mylis pleads, grabbing her arms gently.

Instead of calming down, Xena pushes her away. Mylis softly winces, eyes growing wide. This doesn't happen...
"Don't. Touch. Me." Xena angrily says, stepping closer to Mylis.
Mylis backs away, fear evident in her eyes, "Xena... this isn't... you...!" She pleads and has to think of something quick to distract her. Maybe she can run in the woods. She doesn't want to abandon Xena, but she's not safe right now, triggering all sorts of traumatic feelings for Mylis.

She gets an idea, "Look! That boy is waking up!" She points.
The moment Xena turns her head and takes her attention away from Mylis, she books it as fast as she can into the dense forest.

Mylis runs and runs until she can't anymore, and falls against a tree, clutching her aching chest. Despite being daylight, it's fairly dark in the forest. She takes a deep breath and tries to calm down. Mylis knows that Xena can and will find her at some point, so she tries to devise a plan...

...But soon enough, Xena picks up on the fact Mylis just distracted her and ran off. Xena growls softly and glances around the area for Mylis. She doesn't know what happened to herself either, but all she does know is she's feeling hurt and betrayed.

The one human she cared for is supposedly working against her. The one fucking human that was nice to her. Xena scoffs and feels even more bitter.
"I'll make you pay." She mutters under her breath. It's clear she isn't thinking straight, but she doesn't seem to care. Xena has snapped, and there's nothing anyone can do to get her out of this state.

Xena stalks her way into the forest with a sickly calm and sweet attitude. She's being deceptive again like she was to the boy. Except now it's with Mylis.

"Oh, Myliiiss~ where are youuu?" She calls out, laughing a bit. Mylis, in the distance, covers her mouth to stop herself from making a sound. She pushes herself against the tree she's hiding behind. It's a big tree. But her heartbeat is super loud, and it seems Xena can hear it.

Unfortunately for Mylis, Xena finds her pretty fast in a matter of minutes.
"Mylis... you know you can't hide from me. I could sense you all the way from over there. You really think I'm that stupid?" She says lowly, getting closer to Mylis.
"X-Xena, I—!" Mylis starts.
"Save it. I don't want to hear it." Xena cuts her off, frowning.

Xena grabs Mylis and slams her to the ground. Mylis winces in pain, staring up at Xena with big, fearful eyes. Xena then places her boot on Mylis' chest, restricting her breath. Mylis struggles to breathe and makes choked pained noises. Tears stream down her face. Xena looks down at her and Mylis stares up. Neither of the two girls say a single word, but it's clear they're communicating by expressions; Mylis is fearful and Xena is angry.
