Mewtwo Strikes Back

The chapter opens in a jungle where multiple Mankeys are seen jumping through the trees while a group of expeditioners trek through the dense environment.

???: August sixth. Today, my colleagues and I reach the site where an ancient civilization may have created a shrine to Mew, the most powerful Pokemon to have ever existed, now believed to be extinct.

As the man speaks, Mew is seen to be watching them. 

???: Giovanni is financing the expedition.

As the man continues speaking, a flock of Butterfree are seen flying while Mew continues to follow.

???: When he heard of my work in the field of cloning, he agreed to fund my research, but only if I would try to create for him, an enhanced, living replica of Mew. I had to agree. All he wants is to control the most powerful Pokemon the world has ever known, I, of course, want something more. Much more.

Soon, the expedition reaches the shrine of Mew. They take a photo outside of it, and then head inside, where they find a stone carved picture of Mew. 

???: Mew.

Then, the group sees Mew's shadow, but it leaves before they can see it in the flesh, and they soon head back to the tent. 

???: Our team is bringing back what we believe to be a Mew fossil. I pray its authentic. If so, I may finally have the DNA I need to create a Pokemon powerful enough to survive the cloning process. Perhaps then I can unlock the secret to restoring life itself.

While the man talks, Mew watches from outside the tent and then flies off toward a mountain. Later, the cloning process is underway as researchers are seen attempting to create a living replica of Mew. Soon, a young Mew clone is seen in looming darkness, wondering where and who he is. 

Mew clone: Where am I? Who am I? What am I?

Meanwhile, the doctors are observing the clone.

???: It's just like all the other clones, Doctor. It hasn't gained consciousness.

???: I just don't understand it, its other vital signs are strong.

In the dark, the clone opens its eyes.

Mew clone: I sense others near me. But what are those strange sounds they make?

Soon, another voice is heard. That of a little girl..

???: Those are words. They're talking.

The Mew clone soon sees a bright light, and something materialize in it. 

Mew clone: What are you?

???: What do you mean? I'm a girl. A person.

A little girl materializes from the light and the Mew clone approaches it.

Mew clone: A person? Am I a person?

???: Well. *approaches the clone of Mew* You look like a Pokemon, but you talk. I didn't know a Pokemon could talk like a person.

Mew clone: Pokemon? Person? What are those? Which one am I?

???: Maybe it makes a difference if you're a Pokemon or a person, but not to me. *spins and giggles* If you're in this place, I guess you must be the same as all of us are.

Soon, a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle appear. Outside, the scientists and researches monitor the vital signs and brain activity of the clones, particularly of the Mew clone.

???: What's that?

???: I'm not sure, but Mewtwo and Ambertwo seem to be communicating with the other clones.
