As Samantha drove back home, she couldn't help think about her conversation with Samuel. He impressed her. She loved how he spoke about his work passionately and talked about his future plans excitedly.

After parking her car in the garage, she took a deep breath and entered the house.

As she approached the house, she could hear her father mentioning the name Samuel Mshindi. Her heart sank.

She couldn't believe they still considered the arranged marriage after their last conversation. She thought that they would understand that she had always imagined finding love on her own, but it seemed like her parents had different plans for her.

When she entered the house, she saw her parents sitting in the living room discussing dinner plans.

As soon as they noticed her, they asked her to sit down and join the conversation.

"Samantha, we have been discussing the idea of meeting Samuel's family for dinner tonight," her father said, looking at her.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Samantha replied quickly, hoping they would drop the topic.

"Why not? It's an opportunity for you to meet your potential life partner," her mother chimed in.

"I have a terrible headache, and I have swamped with work this past week. I need to rest. I don't think I can make it," Samantha said, coming up with an excuse.

Her parents looked disappointed, and her father sighed.

"Samantha, we understand that you're not happy about this, but please try to see things from our perspective. Samuel's family and ours have been friends for a long time, and we want to strengthen that bond. Besides, Samuel is a great guy, and we think you'll like him."

Samantha listened but remained firm in her decision. After a few more minutes of discussion, her parents decided to go ahead with the dinner without her.

As she retreated to her room, Samantha wondered how things had gotten so complicated. She had always known that her parents had expectations for her to marry someone within their social circle, but she had hoped that they would let her make her own choices.

She felt trapped and helpless, but she resolved to figure out a way to navigate this situation on her terms.
