Chapter 26: He Speaks

As Samuel arrived home after his date with Samantha T, he was nervous about breaking the news to his parents.

He took a deep breath before entering the house, knowing that this conversation would change his life forever.

"Mom, Dad, can we talk?" Samuel said as he entered the living room where his parents were sitting.

"What is it, son?" his mother asked, sensing the seriousness of his tone.

"I've met someone," Samuel said, his heart racing as he spoke.

His parents looked at each other in shock, not expecting such news.

"Someone? Who?" his father asked, his tone slightly demanding.

Samuel took a deep breath, "Her name is Sam T."

"Sam T? What does T stand for?"his father questioned.

Samuel was taken aback by this question. For the first time, he realized that he didn't know Sam's full name even after chatting with her a couple of times.

"Tandaza" He made up. "Samira Tandaza is her full name," he lied making a mental note that he should ask Sam T what her full was.

His parents looked at him and after some time, his mother asked, "Is she good enough?"

"Yes, she is amazing. We had a great time together." Samuel answered immediately.

His parents were hesitant, "Are you sure about this? You've been engaged to Samantha Taji for a while now and you don't know Sam T well."

"I am sure about Sam and I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I can't marry Samantha Taji. I have feelings for Sam T, and it wouldn't be fair to anyone if I went through with the engagement," Samuel explained.

His parents looked at each other, still unsure about what to do. "We need to meet this girl first before we talk to Samantha's parents about breaking the engagement," his mother said finally.

Samuel nodded, relieved that his parents were willing to meet Sam T. "I'll talk to Samantha Taji and let her know about my decision," he said.

His father sighed, "We understand that you have your own feelings, Samuel, but we also have to think about the friendship between the two families."

"I know, Dad, and I'll do everything I can to make this situation right," Samuel said, trying to reassure his father.

His parents nodded, "We'll set up a meeting with this Samira Tandaza and her family. We need to make sure that everything is handled respectfully," his father said.

Samuel felt relieved that his parents were willing to consider his feelings, but he also knew that there would be a long road ahead of him.

Breaking off an arranged engagement was never easy, but he was willing to do whatever it took to be with Sam T.
