It was around 10 a.m., and the sun had risen. I brushed her hair gently enough not to wake her. I look down at Asteria, who is still asleep, her warm bare body on top of mine. Her eyes were closed, and her lips were slightly apart as she snored quietly.
I had been awake since 7 a.m. for work but didn't want to wake her. She looked so peaceful, and I knew she didn't sleep like this very often, so I held her in my arms till she woke up.
She finally shifts in my arm and rubs her eyes. She raised her head and squinted her eyes against the blazing sun.
"Good morning, gorgeous."
She frowned "I thought you were supposed to work?"
"No good morning?" I ignored her question and smiled as she rolled her eyes.
"Why are you still here?"
"You don't seem pleased that I'm here."
"No, I'm not, I'm just confused," she said with a smile. She sat up on the bed and wrapped the blanket around her nude body.
"You were asleep, and I didn't want to wake you up," I explained as I stood up to grab my pants from the floor. When I moved, I winced because my back hurt. I looked in the mirror and noticed Asteria's red scratches on my back.
Fucking little demon.
"Luca...you didn't have to do this—"
"It's okay Asteria."
"I'm sorry, you could have woke me—"
"Do not apologise." I flashed her a look before she could say anything else, and she closed her mouth and exhaled.
It's incredible that she just got up and still looks beautiful, even with her tangled hair and sleepy eyes.
"Are you leaving?" As I pulled my shirt from the floor, her sweet voice said. I caught sight of her in the middle of the bed on her knees, still wrapped in the cover.
I fought the impulse to simply yank it down and expose her naked body once again.
