Chapter 12: In Plain Sight

9:00pm – New Years Eve

I see you, Riley. Walking around all beautiful like that. Why must you tease me? I know you see me too. Why do you run away from me like that? Do I scare you? Don't you love me? I know you do, we have so many good memories together, just you and me between the sheets and everywhere else. Leo smiled thinking to himself. I really want to make more of those great memories with you. I love that body especially when it's naked and laying on top of me or under me. You're so warm inside and you taste..Mhmm. I want to feel you again and again. Let's try new places and different ways. I think you'd like that; you sure loved it last time. I want to do that again. Role-playing? Yeah, we'll have to do more of that but next time, don't call me "Matt". I really hate that. You love me, not him! Leo knocked over a vase in his anger over his thoughts but no one seemed to notice it shattering into a million pieces over the live jazz music. Leo walked away in an attempt to not be noticed just in case. He found Riley in his watchful eye again and continued to think about her in naughty ways. Leo couldn't seem to understand that she doesn't feel the same way about him. He mistakes love for rape and that's a very dangerous combination mostly for the women around him. Riley is only 16 years old, but Leo didn't care about the age difference, he was crazy for her (literally). His family had tried to get him some help but he was already 18 years old when they decided he needed it and he was of a legal age to say no. They couldn't force him to go anymore not unless he was hurting someone or himself, which he hadn't yet. Now that he is, and psychologically unknowing that he is, poor Riley will suffer for their neglect. Leo, a 24-year-old man with numerous psychological disorders, who still lives in his mother's basement and stalks a girl name Riley, whom he believes is his girlfriend.

11:30pm

Leo watched Riley for a while and then decided he'd surprise her in her room. He walked outside and around to her fire escape. Right before he started to climb up, he saw a figure climbing into her window. Who just went to my girl's room? He thought to himself. That better not be this "Matt" she talks about. I'll just stick around and find out.

Leo hid behind some bushes across the street and waited for him to come out.

12:03am

Leo looked at his watch to check the time. He'd been in there for 30 minutes. Leo thought about what could have been going on, is she cheating on me with him!? That bastard! I am going to teach him a lesson. I saw you kissing him, Riley. When I'm done with him, he is going to wish he hadn't. Just you wait... He thought as he watched them drive off together.

Leo put on his gloves and climbed up to Riley's bedroom window that was hanging open still. He went into her room and looked around. He noticed her note on the desk and read it. Overcome with anger again, he smashed her lamp. Whoever did this to you; I will find him, Riley. Part of him thought he was her "stalker," that she was talking about him but he shook that feeling off. He thought that couldn't be, we love each other. Leo froze when he realized whom she left with. I can't believe she's running away with him. How dare he! She's mine! He thought, picking up a snow globe she had on her desk and throwing it against her wall. Wait, that's it! He thought. If I get her parents attention by making enough damaging noises I can get her parents up here to find this note and call the police. That'll stop her from leaving me. With this thought he started destroying her room, breaking her desk chair, knocking over her bookcase, smashing her collection of blown glass décor. Even sitting fire her photo collage of her and Matt and allowing it to continue to burn in the trash can. When the fire alarm went off and the automatic sprinklers came on, he went out the window and escaped.

Riley's parents evacuated all of the guests and ran upstairs when they didn't see Riley come outside with everyone else. They ran into her room, and started to cry when they saw her room completely destroyed. Her father finished putting out the fire in the trashcan and noticed what was left of her and Matt's photo collage. Her mom walked over and looked out the window to see if Riley or anyone was out there, and shut the window when there was no one to be seen. They thought someone might have kidnapped her but the burnt collage says otherwise. They start to think Riley was mad a Matt and did all this out of anger but she doesn't do this kind of thing when she's angry. Her mom, Anne, then noticed the soaked envelope addressed to them. She gently pulled out the note trying not to rip it. Riley's dad, Simon, walked over to Anne and read the note with her. Her mother broke into tears and her father had a few tears mixed with anger. He went out to see if the car was still there because he hadn't noticed before. He took out his phone and called the police when he saw it was gone too.  Almost 15 minutes later, his daughter was in custody.
