Chapter 13: Police Station
1:00am – The Interrogation Room
"Why were you trying to runaway, Miss Parks," the officer asked me.
"Because none of you believe I was raped and stalked, it's destroying my life. He's destroying me. I have to get a way from here so he can't find me, please let me go!" I pleaded.
"You know I can't do that. Miss Parks, did you know Detective Carson wanted you here for more questioning tomorrow?" He asked.
"Yes, I did." I answered.
"Then, why would you run? Don't you think we're trying to solve this case?" He asked.
"I told you why. No one believes me. I haven't given anyone reason not to." I said crossing my arms.
"Miss Parks, we need more information about this guy because right now he's being called a ghost. We don't have enough evidence on him or your case to confirm any truth behind it."
"Confirm any truth? Why in the world would I lie about this?" I stood up yelling.
"Some lie about these situations for attention their not getting. How's the home life? Parents giving you enough affection?" He prodded.
"WHAT! My home life is none your business and it is just fine thank you very much. I have enough attention, I'm actually getting way more than I wanted tonight," I shouted.
"Okay. First, it is my business. I'm the police. Second, obviously not, since you managed to runaway and them not notice you were gone until later. Third, so you admit you wanted attention?" The officer continued to prod.
"STOP twisting my words and trying blame the me for what happened. I am not to blame here. I didn't make this up. My parent's love me. The home life is a happy, normal. I ran away on one of the busiest nights of the year, of course, they didn't notice. Now leave me alone. I'm not going to listen your questions anymore. GO AWAY!" I demanded slamming my hand on the table.
The officer left the room and in walked Detective Carson and Detective LeCré.
"Riley, do you remember me, Detective Lydia Carson?" She asked.
I nodded and then turned away. Her and her partner sat down.
"Riley, I know your upset but we can't catch this guy without your help." She said trying to make eye contact.
I turned to her and asked what I needed to do.
"We need you to answer a few more questions. When's the last time you saw your stalker?"
"Well that's hard to say since I've never seen his face. I thought I saw him earlier tonight at my parent's party, wearing a mask but no one seemed to notice him but me so I thought it was just my imagination playing mind tricks or something. I definitely saw him on Christmas day though. He dressed up like Santa Claus and raped me again. That was the last time..." I trailed off looking at the ground. The memory still fresh, like a stab wound. I just wanted to forget so badly.
Detective Carson touched my arm making me flinch, "are you sure you're okay, Riley?" She asked, "we can do this some other time, if you need to?"
"No, I want to get this over with." I said and sat up straight.
