Chapter 18: Comatose

1:06pm, earlier that day.

"That's my girl," Owen said as he watched the recording of the News featuring Riley from that morning. He forced Matt to watch her confess her love for this monster over and over again. Matt even started to believe she meant it. It was probably the worst part of the torture he had to endure.

"Matthew, Matthew, Matthew, if only you had stayed away from my love in the first place, then you wouldn't be here and you wouldn't have to hear the truth about who she really wants... in case you didn't notice that's me." Owen taunted Matt.

Matt looked away from Owen, feeling defeated he stayed quiet.

"Cat got your tongue," he taunted again. "Well I am going to let you go, I am a man of my promises but unfortunately for you I didn't say how and in what condition I'd let you go, just that you'd be alive.

Matt looked at him, worryingly, "What does that mean?" he asked.

"Oh you'll find out...or you won't," Owen said has he injected Matt with a substance known to cause permanent memory loss and induce comas. Matt, shocked, fell over on his side and passed out soon after.

Owen picked up Matt and carried him to the car. He drove him to the hospital, being carful not to be seen by the hospital cameras, he parked in an alleyway. Then carried Matt into the ER and called for help. ER nurses rushed to the boy's aid; meanwhile, Owen had slipped out without being seen or caught on the cameras.

Owen returned to his car and wrote Riley a letter,

Dearest Riley,

Your precious Matt heard your truth on the news. He was really upset and tried to fight me for stealing you away from him. So I had to put him down like the dog he is. I hope you can forgive me for this small change of plans. Now we can be together without interruptions. See you soon!

Now he just had to deliver the letter to Riley, and all would be well in his world.
