Amy, I have four broken ribs and a huge concussion. They are keeping me here for observations until swelling goes down. I plan to come see you soon, I hope you wake soon.

I press the nurse button and in a minute or so one walks through the door.

"Could I use the phone?" He nods and hands me the phone on the wall. I dial a number and wait for them to pick up.

Person: Hello?

Me: It's me.

Person: Hey! Haven't heard from you in a while.

Me: Can you come to Woodsberg Hospital?

Person: Why!?

Me: I just need you to come here.

Person: Okay, I'll be there tonight.

The line cuts off and I hand the phone back.

[Later tonight]
[3rd Person POV]

A tall, lanky 20 year old guy walks down the hospital corridor with a duffle bag slung over his shoulder wearing black jeans and a black shirt that says Freedom. He has a sharp jaw line covered in bristle, he has dark green eyes and dark hair that has no order. He walks up to the front desk and flashes a smile, the lady blushes and smiles back.

[Strangers POV]

"Hi, what room is Jackson Soul in?" I ask the lady at the desk.

"Who's asking?" She says. I pull out my license and show her. She nods and starts speaking again. "Room 23D" She says monotonous. I thank her and take the elevator to the third floor. I search floor for 23D. The whole time I mutter the number until I find his room. I walk through the door and pull back the curtain.

"Jacky?" I ask air.

"James! You made it!" Jackson says coughing.

"What are you doing here? Please tell me you didn't get into fights again" I chuckle and take a seat dropping my bag.

"Uncle came back" He says shaking his head.

Bastard!

"Just be lucky that's all he did" I say looking through his clipboard.

"Yeahhh...Is there any chance you can stay for a while?" He asks me.

"As your big brother it's my duty to stay and look after you! You big idiot!" I say messing up his hair, he stares at me coldly.

"Thanks" He shuts his eyes and falls asleep.

[Morning]

Jackson wakes up slowly and I drag him out of bed and carry him to a room.

"So I've been asking about you"

"And?" He says suspiciously.

I walk him in the room. "Who is she?" I ask looking at a girl his age with long brown hair and pale skin.

"Amy, Amy Vale...my girlfriend" He looks down.

"I didn't know you had a girlfriend...how'd she end up here?" I put my arm over his shoulder.

"You remember Chris?" I nod. "He tried to rape her and in the struggle she hit her head. I stopped him...he threw a knife at me and she jumped in front" A tear rolls down his face and I wiped it away.

"Well, I hope that son of a bitch goes to hell!" He laughs at my comment.

[Jackson's POV]

Amy, so you 'met' my brother James today. He talked to you. He told you a story about me as a kid. I was climbing a tree and went too far up and was scared to come down. James then ran inside and got dad. He held out his arms below me and I jumped. I still remember the feeling of fear and excitement. Feeling like I was flying and knowing I was safe...it was the best feeling in the world. I hope one day you can feel that way.

Jackson.

I talk with James and he listens. He's the first person to listen, actually listen. I don't need to tread carefully around words like with my parents and I don't need to talk like I'm okay with my friends. I talk through my whole 6 months with her. From the moment she walked through that door to the moment I saw her being wheeled away.
James talks to a nurse outside while my thoughts run wild, until one catches me.

I tighten my grip on her arm, pulling her out the door. The nights breeze clearly stings her as she shivers. The night sky watching me.

"J-Jackson? What's happening" She asks.

"What do YOU think was in that drink?" Hatred rolls off my tongue.

"I-I don't know, coke?" She looks clueless.

"It could've been, but he might have tried to drug you" I say sternly.

"D-Drug me!?" Her voice is filled with shock and fear.

"Just, don't trust him" I look back inside seeing Chris making out with a girl on a table.

We start to walk when I pull Amy into my arms.

"You scared me" I whisper.

I lower my head and press my lips on hers. I kiss her and she stands there in shock. Soon enough she returns the kiss.

That was the start of year party. Wow. A lot has happened since then. James walks back in with a sad expression.

"I'm sorry. But this hospital now owns you" He looks me in the eyes.

"What?" I ask confused.

He looks at me for a minute then cracks up. He laughs so hard that he falls on the ground. "Man I gotta piss" I point to the door and he runs out.

He's back in a second and sits down. "I can take you home" I smile widely at his words.

We drive home and I unlock the doors. James runs in and sits down on the couch, grabbing a beer first though.

"Oh, I'm fine! just came out of hospital but I'm okay!" I say sarcastically.

"Grab a beer and sit with me, we can talk more about that douche bag Chris!" He pats the lounge.

"I'm 15" I say blankly, he lets out an exasperated sigh.

"But you're with me and it's not like I'm getting drunk sooo...and you're almost 16 anyway! In what a month and 8 days?" He guesses.

"Umm. It's the 25 today right?" He nods. "June?" He nods again. "It's the 2nd of August...so yeah you're right" I stretch this out, numbers running in my head.

"Best big brother ever" He says gesturing to himself.

"I'll drink to that!" I say grabbing a beer.

I sit down and take a sip. It's sweet but bitter at the same time.

"So. Tell me more about Chris" He starts. "I mean, I remember you coming home in tears when you were in year 2 because of him. You said that he stole your chocolate and then he hit you when you said-"

I cut him off finishing the sentence. "Give me my chocolate you big doody head" we laugh at my old innocence.

"He was always so cruel to you..." James says, his voice softer. "I want to go see him"

"What!? No!"

"You mean yes, remember I'm 5 years older than you" He takes another sip.

"Ugh, don't play that card with me!" I protest.

"We're going" I give him the finger and he laughs at my response.

"We?" I ask cautiously.

"Yep, we"
