The past week had been absolute hell.

Beca could never have imagined the cold shoulder from Chloe Beale.

But God it was cold.

Chemistry was brutal because Chloe would not speak.
No eye contact.
No hint of any emotion.
Except indifference.

Of course Beca wanted to apologize.
See that beautiful smile again.

But she couldn't.

If Chloe was mad at her, Beca couldn't hurt her anymore.

Well anymore than she had.
But Chloe would forget about her after this was over.

Beca tried to channel all of her Chloe frustration into soccer.
Which seemed to be working.

She had finally gelled with the team, and they were playing amazing together.

The boys respected Beca's skill and dedication.
They also accepted her off the field.

Without Chloe, Beca spend the majority of her time with Jesse, Benji, and Luke.

And Beca was beginning to really enjoy those friendships.
These were the type of guys she would be friends with despite being a girl.

Jesse has become her surrogate Chloe.
He definitely wasn't like most boys.
He was actually in touch with his feminine side.
Beca had never heard him talk about women in a discriminatory fashion.

Because he wasn't afraid of emotion, Jesse picked up on Beca's sadness about the Chloe situation.

Beca was lounging on her bed in their dorm.
Trying to get a nap in before practice that afternoon.

Jesse asked, "Ready to talk about Chloe?"

Beca groaned, "Nothing to talk about."

"You've been moping for a week dude."

"I have not."

"It's okay to be sad. You can even cry if you need to."

And he wasn't joking.
Which sort of touched Beca.
But she wasn't about to cry in front of him.
No way in hell.

"I don't need to cry. It's for the best. Trust me."

"Brock. Regardless of any romantic feelings, Chloe is your friend. I'd say best but I'd like to reserve that title for me. You should make up with her."

Jesse had a point.
Beca desperately missed Chloe's friendship.

"She won't even look at me so how am I supposed to do that?"

"Just apologize for being a dick," he shrugged.

Beca huffed, "Gee thanks."

Jesse threw his hands up in defense.
"Well...you were!"

Beca sighed, "I know. I know."

She still wasn't sure it was a good idea.
What if things with Chloe escalated again?
Would she be able to control herself?

Beca had called Stacie and Emily multiple times that week.
Their idea was even crazier than Jesse's.

They suggested just telling Chloe the truth.

Beca had no concerns about Chloe keeping her secret .
But would she even be able to forgive Beca?
Would she think Beca was some predator; pretending to be a boy and making out with her?

Or even worse.
What if Chloe did forgive her?
Beca wasn't completely sure that she hide the feelings she had for Chloe.

And letting her in on the secret would bring an entire new closeness.

That night Beca called for reinforcements.
Jesse had gone home for the weekend, so she snuck Stacie and Emily into her dorm.

Stacie looked around the room in disgust.

"God, Becs, you're really tapping into your masculine energy."

Beca groaned as she flopped onto her bed.

"Dude, not the point."

Emily gently sat beside her, and rubbed her leg in reassurance.

"Still not word from Chloe?"

Beca sighed, "She's like the ice queen right now."

"Becs, you obviously have feelings for her so just tell her the truth," Stacie shrugged.

As if it was that simple.

"It's not about feelings! She'll hate me for not coming clean in the first place. She'll probably think I'm some creep after...the bathroom incident."

"It was the heat of the moment, Becs! If anything, she'll only be angry about the lie you told about us," Stacie said.

"I don't even know if Chloe likes girls."

Emily sweetly said, "Your boy garb does the trick, but you still have the feminine qualities. I'm sure that's what she's attracted to."

Beca groans, "This was not a part of the plan."

Stacie laughed, "It never is, honey!"

"Just start with the truth. Then address your feelings after you see how she responds," Emily suggested.

Beca knew they were right.
She couldn't continue like this.
Soccer brought her here, and it would be ruined if her relationship with Chloe wasn't repaired.

So Beca planned to tell Chloe that she wasn't her brother.

Did that mean she wasn't the man of Chloe's dreams?
Could she be the woman instead?
