Just Helping (Chloe POV)

It had been 3 weeks since Chloe met Beca.
And she had to admit that knowing Beca was better than knowing Brock.

The two had fallen into a rhythm.
Aubrey had been spending multiple weekends at home due to a new babysitting job.

Which allowed for sleepovers with Beca.
Chloe's heart shattered whenever Aubrey didn't babysit on the weekends.

Because these sleepovers meant everything to Chloe.

Of course the two hung out throughout the week.
But class and soccer always limited their time together.

Not to mention Beca couldn't completely be herself in public.

And Chloe loved being around Beca when she was herself.

Beca was everything that Brock had been but less secretive.
Beca had a few walls that remained up.
But Chloe was slowly chipping away at them.

Their private encounters allowed for Beca to drop her disguise.
And breathe.

Chloe had become her safe space.
Which warmed Chloe's heart to heightened degrees.

Their friendship was something that Chloe had been missing all of her life.
This special aspect of her relationship with Beca definitely had something to do with her more than platonic feelings.

But Beca was just as awkward and shy as Brock had been in that area.
Not to mention Chloe was scared shitless of ruining their friendship.

The sparks of their chemistry remained.
Their flirtatious banter would arise more often now that Beca was more comfortable with Chloe.

Nevertheless, Chloe would not over step unless the situation was explicitly clear.

The two had still managed to leave the "bathroom make out" topic in the dark.

Chloe was more afraid of hearing an explanation that conveyed platonic feelings.
So she would visit that topic at a later time.

She was enjoying herself and couldn't bring herself to pop their little bubble.

Unfortunately, Aubrey was very observant.
She had approached Chloe with questions concerning their relationship numerous times.

"I just cannot believe that you let him off the hook so easily after what he did," Aubrey huffed.

"Everyone deserves a second chance, Brey."

"Yet you two still aren't together? I don't buy it."

It did appear as if they were dating.
She spent as much time with Beca as her friends.
Maybe even more.

It was becoming a problem.
One Aubrey would never drop.

This lead to Chloe's brilliant...and scary idea.
Maybe her and "Brock" should be dating.

At least pretending to be dating.
It would get Aubrey off of her back.
Provide an excuse for more private time in her room with Beca.
Not to mention ward off the band of annoying girls that shamelessly vie for "Brock's" attention.

Watching girls continuously approach Beca made her skin boil.
Plus these encounters always made Beca feel uncomfortable.

"Fine! We've been seeing each other for a few weeks now," Chloe admitted to Aubrey.

Aubrey's ego was inflated.
And she was pissed.

"I KNEW IT! CHLOE! He hurt you!"

"It was a misunderstanding, Brey! And he's been amazing ever since," Chloe pleaded.

"Misunderstanding? Chloe, get real."

"Brey, I really like him okay? I know what I'm doing."

Beca would just have to prove to Aubrey that she could be an amazing "boyfriend".

After Chloe explained her little plan of course.

Unfortunately, Chloe couldn't catch Beca alone for the majority of the day.
The only class that they had together was Chemistry, which was not meeting today.

The only time that she seen Beca was during her PE class, which took place beside of the soccer field.

As she and Aubrey walked the track, Chloe couldn't help but let her eyes wonder over to Beca.

Who knew someone so...petite could be so athletic?
Another sign that Chloe had completely ignored about "Brock".

Beca was in fact quite small.
Shorter than Chloe even.
Only by an inch...or two.

Attraction can really create tunnel vision.

Nevertheless, Chloe enjoyed watching Beca do what she was so passionate about.

Beca was fast yet graceful on the field.
She had an elegance and dance to her play that none of the boys did.

"Earth to Chloe," Aubrey said.
Snapping Chloe's attention back to her.

"Sorry," Chloe sheepishly replied.

Aubrey rolled her eyes.

"So why are you two keeping this low key?"

"I don't know. Just wanted to test the waters out first."

"Well...you might want to rethink that."

Chloe's eyes zeroed in on Beca again.
Practice had ended.
And she was surrounded by a group of cheerleaders.
A repeat occurrence according to Beca.

"I think you're right, Brey."

Chloe confidently marched her way to Beca.
Busting through the annoying group girls.

"Baby! I haven't seen you all day," Chloe flirtatiously called to Beca.

Beca's eyes conveyed utter confusion.

Chloe swiftly grabbed the back of Beca's neck and softly kissed her lips.
Lips that Chloe had desperately missed.

Half a second was all it took for Beca to respond.
Her lips matched Chloe's.
Despite the thrill sent through her body, a sweet and short kiss was all the moment called for.

She pulled away and was pleased with the expression on Beca's face.
No signs of guilt.
Not like the last time they had kissed.

Chloe was even more pleased when she turned to find multiple faces of disappointment within the group of cheerleaders.

One girl spoke up, "You two are dating?"

Before Chloe could respond, Beca took control of the situation.
Which pleased Chloe even more.

"Yeah. It was inevitable, ladies. Chloe's my girl."
