Chapter 3: The Mysterious Package

Waking up to the fresh air coming from my window, gave me peace. Something I never really got often.

Going downstairs I thought my mom would be downstairs, but she wasn't. However there was a note left on the fridge, so I assumed it was for me.

"This summer I have to be in work at the doctor's office for 7 so you won't see me in the mornings. Also, I got a call today saying something your father ordered for you when you were 7, got lost in the mail and they found it today. So it could be here anytime."

I stood there, clueless. I ripped the note up and put it in the garbage.

That note ruined my day.

The last thing I want is a package from my dad, it will just bring back memories from when I had a father. I hesitated but, I ran outside with no shoes on. Very curious if the package happened to be delivered today. Looking in the mailbox at the end of my driveway, I saw nothing but just some flyers.

"Damn." I whispered to myself. Looking up I saw the woman who moved in yesterday, she was planting some pretty roses. My favourite flower. I don't know why they're my favourite flower, but they just make me feel happy, something I don't feel most of the time. I don't let anyone know I like roses, because then people know my soft side.

I then saw the person I met yesterday, Justin come out of the house, shirtless. He grabbed a lawn mower and started mowing the lawn, their house was unlike the rest in this neighbourhood. All the others just had nice grass but nothing special like how Justin's house has roses and dangling lights on their roof.

I turned around and ran back inside my house. Realizing how hot the pavement is when I was in bare feet, I sat on the ground looking at my foot, it kind of hurt.

Learned my lesson I guess.

The whole day I was just watching TV on Netflix, which got boring after a while.

I got hungry after a while so I decided to order some pizza. I asked for pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and ham. When it came to pizza, I loved it all filled with toppings.

Half an hour came by when I was getting really hungry, I looked outside to check if my pizza was here. But no, I just saw a car go into Justin's house was all I saw. My neighbourhood is pretty boring.

When the boy got out of the car he had a pizza box, which seemed peculiar because I doubt Justin is ordering pizza as well. But when I saw Justin come out of his house with a black shirt on, he was pointing to my house. I am starting to guess my pizza went to the wrong house. Stupid me.

I quickly grabbed a $20 bill and ran outside across the street, even though I knew my feet would hurt, I didn't really care. As much as I didn't want to go over to Justin's yard, I just wanted my damn pizza.

"I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong address by accident." I said, pulling the $20 out of my shorts' back pocket.

"No, I got the address wrong, I'm sorry," The pizza boy said, who sounded very apologetic. "That'll be $15.54 please."

When I was about to give him the $20, Justin stopped my hand.

"It's okay, I got it." His chocolate eyes looking at me.

"No. I have it." I insisted. I don't need him paying for my food, god.

"No. It's okay I have it." Justin also insisted. He gave the boy $30.

"Keep the change." He said, smiling at him. The pizza boy left in his little car. The awkward silence is what filled the air.

"You didn't have to pay for me, geez." I said, rolling my eyes.

"I don't care, I felt like being nice. Which by the way, I'm always nice. Unlike some people..." Justin said, with a smirk on his face. Trying to joke around with me... Please, I'm not in the mood.

"Oh shut up!" I said, turning my heel to walk back to my house. My feet are getting hot again!

"No,wait. I wouldn't mind some..... Really filled pizza?..." Justin said, as he lifted the box seeing all the ingredients.

I was hoping I was getting away with having this hole pizza to myself, damn.

"What if I don't want to share with you." I shot back, with a bitchy attitude.

"Then I'll...." Justin said looking around, then he took my pizza and ran in the house.

"Hey!" I said, running inside his house.

Justin locked the door with some kind of password so I couldn't get out.

"Now you'll have to share with me, haha!" Justin said, with a big smile on his face. Those eyes were sparkling beautiful.

"Stop Miranda!" I whispered to myself.

"What?" Justin asked.

"Nothing, now give me my pizza!" I said chasing him.

Justin opened the box and started eating a piece, since he's taller than me he started chewing it loud so I will be jealous.

I took his arm, and twisted it. Hearing Justin scream like a little girl was funny as hell.

"Okay! You can have some." Justin put down the box on the dinner table an grabbed a seat. Before that, he pulled a seat out for me.

I rolled my eyes and just stood there. While he was devouring his piece, he looked at me and pointed to the chair, motioning me to sit in it.

I finally sat down and grabbed a piece, what I've been waiting for, for about 45 minutes.

After about 15 minutes the pizza was gone. Which Justin ate most of it. My plan was to take the box and go home. While watching "The Notebook" and drinking Pepsi. But instead I had to share it with Justin.

Well at least he paid for it.

As I got out of the chair, going to the door, Justin got out and ran to follow me.

"What are you doing?" He said, with a sparkle in his eye.

"Going home. It's getting late?" I said, which came out more of a question. I just got butterflies for some reason.

"I don't want you to leave." Justin said, which widened my eyes. I haven't even known him for very long at all.

"Well I want to go home. Let me out." I said, I don't think Justin wanted that to be his response.

"Fine then." Justin looked kind of shocked. He said something sweet and I gave him a bitchy answer. I just am not used to being social with people, so I have a bitchy attitude with everyone. Because I know how everyone is, you can't trust them. So that's why I just don't talk to people at school, anywhere really.

Justin opened the door and I walked out. Justin put his arm on the door and it looked kinda cute. But I didn't look for very long, I just turned on my heel and left.

"Nice talking to you" Justin said, smiling.

"Yeah yeah" I said, walking back I waved my hand.

I came in my house and saw my mom, watching tv.

"Hey, where were you?" My mom said.

"At the neighbours' " I answered, sitting on the couch.

"Justin and Pattie? They're really nice I'm glad you're talking to them." My mom said, with a smile on her face.

I didn't really want to believe I was talking to him, I don't really talk to anyone.

For once in my life, I kind of feel a bit better about myself. But I'm trying not to get too comfortable.
