"Thank you, that was really good Pattie." I said, smiling at Pattie.

"Oh you're so very welcome." Pattie said.

"That was really good Pattie, thanks so much." My mom said, helping Pattie put the last 2 plates away.

"Okay Miranda, lets go." My mom said, Pattie gave me my grey sweater and I put on my flip flops.

After my mom thanked Pattie again, she went out the door first. When I was about to leave, somebody grabbed my arm. It was strong but comfortable at the same time.

"Wait, I have to talk to Miranda if that's okay with you Mrs. Wells." Justin pulled me back, not hard but softly so I would stay.

"Oh, alright I'll just leave and Miranda can come back when you guys are done." My mom replied smiling. Then she walked back to our house.

"I have to go out for a bit, is that okay?" Pattie asked.

"Sure." Justin replied, when he realized Pattie was staring at our hands, Justin let go slowly. I can't even believe he did that, his hand was locked with mine for the first time. Even though it was for a few seconds it felt... Happy. Something I haven't felt in forever.

As Pattie got in her car and left, Justin sat on the bench on the porch. Staring at me, I thought he wanted me to sit too. So I sat also.

When I sat, there was an awkward silence for about half a minute until Justin spoke up.

"I would really like to know what was wrong with you the other day, when you freaked out on me."

"Nothing." I said, looking out onto the road.

"Yes you do. You know I would never hurt you in any way, right?" Justin asked, so sincere.

When I heard that. I wanted to believe him so badly, but something told me that I shouldn't.

"Isn't that what everyone says? They tell you they're gonna be there for you but then they leave you like it's nothing. That's why I can't trust people very much to save the heartache & tears." I breathed. That took a lot of me to say it but I'm glad I did.

Justin slowly looked over, and was looking into my eyes. I was scared he was going to get angry at me then leave me like everyone else does.

"Miranda."

Oh no. I was getting prepared for the worst.

"Can I show you that I'm not going to leave you? That I want to get to know you?" Justin asked, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"I don't know." I said, removing his hand from my shoulder. I was being cold again, I don't know why.

Justin suddenly got up and walked over to his jeep. He opened the passenger door, then motioned me to get in.

"Why?" I asked.

"Just get in." He replied, laughing.

"What's so funny?!" I put my arms up, questioning him.

He motioned me again. So I just got off the bench and went over to the passenger side. After I got in, Justin closed the door.

"Where are we going?" I asked, really nervous on where the heck he's taking me. For all I know he could be sick of my bitchy cold attitude and wanted to murder me in the woods or something.

"Don't ask." He said, getting his seatbelt on. Justin turned the car on when I stopped him.

"My mom doesn't know where I'm going." I said. If I told her, just in case he murders me she'll now he did it. Ha.

I quickly texted her & waited for a reply. All she said was to be home before 11.

It was about a 15 minute car ride, but when we finally got there I didn't really know what to say, I thought he was going to murder me.

It was just an ice cream store.

"Why are we here?" I asked. Looking at the store, it was called "Mary's Ice Cream." With the yellow building and lots of windows, it looked cute.

"I'll tell you when we get inside. Just follow me." Justin got out and opened my door for me. I gave him a slight smile and got out.

When we got inside it was very colourful, almost like a children's daycare. Just very fun.

There were blue walls, with cartoon ice cream cones on the walls. The front of the store had a large cashier booth with lots of ice cream to choose from. There weren't a lot of people there either, which made it more comfortable. I've never heard of this place before, but I like it.

"What do you want?" Justin asked, pulling out his brown wallet.

"Oh no, I don't want you to get me anything." I said. I don't want him spending money on me, I just don't.

"Miranda, I insist." He replied. Justin walked over to the cashier, he looked at the menu.

"I'll have a banana split with sprinkles, vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, oh! And bacon." Justin said. I looked at him once he said bacon. Who puts bacon on their ice cream?!

"And what will you have?" The girl asked me, her green eyes looking made me nervous. I just don't like it when people look straight in my eyes.

"I'll have a small vanilla soft serve." Since Justin was paying for it, I didn't really want it to cost too much.

We went to the other side and waited for our ice cream to be served. Once it did, we went over to a table. The table was pretty cool, it had all kinds of colours. The table was a booth, The seats were pink and blue stripes with different cartoons on it. I don't know why Justin took me here.

"Now can you tell me why you took me here?" I asked, licking my ice cream.
