"Why did you lie to me?"
Landon said as he closed the front door. "I... I... " I was so lost for words. In this moment, I wanted to slam my head on a brick wall and just break right through it. I knew that the lies will soon catch up to me, I wasn't thinking when I said that Lee and me were getting married. But now that America or even the whole world knows about this. "I just want an explanation Charlie... Truth, if that means anything to you," he said.
Stella and aunt Janet disappeared into my room. I cleared my throat hoping that I didn't sound too lame. "Last minute changes?" he rolled his eyes and I knew that he would only want to hear the truth. "I didn't want to seem pathetic... I wanted to show you that I could get a man without paying him... I had feelings for Lee but he was my sister's suppose to be husband." I said softly, looking anywhere but him. Suddenly, I felt his hand lift up my chin, forcing me to look up into his eyes.
"You were never pathetic to me," he said.
I was waiting for that moment. Where my heart would skip a beat, where my knees would feel weak or when the butterflies would swarm my stomach. I was waiting for my heart to flutter, but it didn't. It was the nicest thing that anyone has ever said to me yet the feeling that I am looking for can only be caused by one person, but he wasn't here. Landon smiled as he caressed my cheek. I felt sick rather than what I'm suppose to feel. "I'm sorry... I—" "Go on a date with me. We'll start over," he interrupted me.
"How can I Landon? I'm all over the news," I told him as I slammed the newspaper in front of him. "I don't care what the news say! I love you Charlie! Always have and always will, we're destined to be— soul mates! We practically ran into each other in New York— New York Charlie! One of the biggest cities!" he said enthusiastically. Yes, I had feelings for Lee who ended up as my sister's fiance. It could've been anyone who married my sister, and I just ran into Lee at the grocery store and out of all the short people out there he helped me. It could've been any short person but it had to be me, and same thing goes for him there are a lot of tall men like him... but he's the one who helped me.
Lee was my tree.
"I love him," I whispered, "What?" Landon asked, forget his feelings. I should be focusing on mine. "I love Lee, Landon! I am head over heels for Lee... Lee Pace!!" I said excitingly as I stared at the blank expression of Landon. I dashed towards my room, as I opened the door Stella and Aunt Janet were knocked back. It was obvious that they were eavesdropping. But I ignored them and grabbed my jacket and dashed to the door. Landon grabbed my arm as a pained expression was plastered on his face. "You are making a very big mistake Charlie," he warned me.
I yanked back my arm and told him straight to his face, "I am making the right choice... the choice that my heart chooses... And that's being with Lee!" as I continued to run out the door like my life depended on it. Aunt Janet and Stella cheered for me as they stood beside a glum Landon. My heart was beating very fast inside my chest that I think my heart was gonna leap right out and run right beside me. A smile took over my face, and I couldn't help it. Just the thought of Lee made my whole body filled with utter happiness.
My phone vibrated in my pocket , it was Stella. But I was busy and decided not to answer it. The second time it vibrated it was my aunt but I also ignored it, and when Stella called for the second time I decided to turn off my phone. I hailed a taxi. I knew that in a few minutes Lee Pace was gonna do an interview with David Letterman. (Not totally sure where is David Letterman but my guess is that he is in New York) I told the driver my location and as he tried speeding off, we were caught in traffic.
After about a few minutes passed which seemed like an eternity to me. I paid the taxi driver and got off and started running towards the building. I was nervous, happy, and excited. As I entered the building I tried going into the door where the audience was but there was about two huge security men blocking my way. Out of adrenaline I ran up to them and started tearing up, "Help me, they took my son. They're over there!" I cried as I pointed to the opposite side of the building. The security men then ran off as quickly as they could. I laughed a bit and did a happy dance.
I then pushed the doors open widely. Grabbing everyone's attention including David Letterman, Lee Pace... and Celine.
Oh crap!
