Things had been going well for the couple that hid behind closed doors and secret outings. They had managed thus far to escape any suspicion from William's tyrant father and from his little sister, Maggie's bestfriend.

The meetups had continued as usual, every time becoming more reckless and less cautious. William didn't mind if his family knew, all he wanted in the end was Maggie. His fear of his father didn't phase him the way Alison did, the fear of betraying her— that was the reason the secret had gone on for so long. It wasn't just his idea though, as Maggie was too afraid to share with her best friend that she had fallen in love with William. In her eyes, it had to be kept a secret.

But as things go in all relationships, it had begun to get serious. William fiddled with the idea of finally spewing the truth about his relationship with the farmer's daughter. The ring beckoned for him to pop that one fateful question he'd been dying to ask the woman but it wasn't that time. Not yet.

William sat in his room, as per usual, at his desk with his piles of class work that was long past overdue. As he typed away on his laptop, he heard the creaking of his bedroom door. He turned around expecting Alison or Lucy to have come in to bother him, "I told you guys I am doing schoolwork-." He cut his sentence short as Maggie stood before him, a worried look plastered across her face.

William quickly stood to his feet and walked over, curious as to why she had snuck into his room during the day. Something had to have happened. Did she tell Alison? There was no way she'd do that without William knowing first.. Maybe she found out.

"Hey, what's going on?" He questioned, "Is everything alright? Does Alison know you're here?" He quickly began to worry more. His thoughts speeding through his mind as to what was bound to happen if his sister had found them out

Maggie looked up at William and wiped her palms on her pants as she began to pace his room, "Alison isn't here, only Lucy but she's distracted. I had to come. Will-." She spoke, pausing once she finally spoke his name.

William gently rested a hand on her shoulder to stop her pacing. He turned her to face him, "What is going on Maggie, you're scaring me."

"I think I'm pregnant." She spoke quickly.

William's world soon shifted on its axis. It was no surprise to him, they hadn't been the most careful. They were thoughtless , reckless, and utterly incompetent when it came to their sexual relationship. They wanted what they wanted and didn't care for the consequences of their actions and now they could very well be paying for it. William's lips parted as he tried to muster up some sort of response but nothing happened. He stood there in shock, his body feeling as if it was bolted to the floor. A weight towered over him and he felt as if he was being crushed by some imaginary force.

He didn't have the best example of a father figure, he wasn't sure he would ever be a good father himself. This haunted him from the start. It was his worst fear, becoming like his own father or bringing a child up to live in the same shadow he has for so long. This life wasn't for him, the life of an heir. He didn't want that for his own future child.

Finally, the silence broke.

"Have you tested yet or is it too early?" He asked, bringing his hand to the woman's hand in front of him.

Maggie shook her head, reaching in her pocket with her free hand. She pulled out three pink and white boxes with bold letters reading 'Pregnancy Test' on the front.

"I didn't want to do this alone." She muttered, her voice shaking as tears threatened to spill from the waterline of her eyes.

William brought his hand up to her cheek and grazed his thumb against her skin as a means of trying to bring any sort of comfort he could to her. He was baffled, unsure of what the right thing to do or say in this situation was. He was winging it, working off of nothing but speaking from his heart.

"It's okay. Everything will be okay, alright?" He reassured her, "Let's just do the tests and we will go from there."

Maggie nodded and walked towards the adjoining bathroom. Once inside she felt her breath slipping away from her lungs as the panic set in. Everything happened in a blur to her. She unboxed the thin sticks from their packaging and lowered her pants to the floor. In order to take all tests at the same time, she had also brought a clear cup for the urine to be captured into. She squatted over the toilet and held the cup between her legs. After a few moments, she finished up. She placed the cup on the counter next to her and washed her hands. She took the tips of each test and dipped them in the urine, placing them face up on the counter. She left the bathroom to await the results.

William and Maggie sat on the edge of the bed. His comforting arms wrapped around her as time passed by in slow increments. Every minute felt like seconds and patience grew thin.

Ten minutes. The longest ten minutes of both of their lives.
When the time came, William stood up from his spot on the bed. He held out his right hand for Maggie to take. She hesitantly took it, standing to her feet. The pair made their way to the bathroom.

Before either could see the results of the tests, William turned to Maggie, placing both of his hands upon each of her shoulders. He looked deep within the younger woman's eyes and smiled slightly to ease her anxiety, "Whatever the test says, we will be okay. Trust me, it will be okay."

William wanted to ease her stress and given the situation it was quite difficult to do so. He wasn't prepared to be a father but if Maggie wanted to keep the child, he would do as much as possible to ensure the child was taken care of. It wouldn't be hard to give the child a proper life, given the money that William was raised up in and guaranteed to receive from his family's fortune. Either way, a child would be financially protected with William as a father, however, his own father wasn't the best example of grade A parenting.

With a quick sigh slipping through his lips, William was brought back to reality and he shuffled over to the counter. Maggie stood next to him, her eyes trained on the symbols displayed on the front of the tests.

Positive.

Maggie turned to Will and fell into his arms. The tears that were previously threatening to spill from her eyes, finally ran down her cheeks. Maggie felt the ground beneath her feet begin to shift as her mind turned to blurs of thoughts. What would her father think of this? What would she do? The questions piled up high in her head.

The comforting embrace was broken and William lowered his hand to Maggie's stomach. With tears filling his eyes, he gazed into Maggie's.

"We're having a baby." He said, a smile now plastered on his face. His initial fear washed away as he realized the woman he loved was in more fear than he was in. He had to remain strong, for the both of them and for the baby that they had created together.

As the two shared the sentimental moment, they were unaware of the lurking teenager outside of the door to William's room.
