It's been exactly a week since I've seen Justin. I won't lie, I did kind of miss him. I thought maybe he was too busy running errands for his uncle that he hadn't been around much. Or maybe it was too hot outside for his liking. I've been taking glances out of my bedroom window into his but, I still didn't catch him. On my way to work and back, I walked slower in hopes of bumping into him. Still, no show. So I finally decided to give up. At least for now.
I stood in front of my full-length mirror and did a 360 spin, examining my outfit. I'd told Noah I'd go with him on the other side of town while my parent's were at work, last week, but as soon as I came home I fell into a deep sleep. To my luck, my parents were going out to dinner with a group of their friends and wouldn't be back until later tonight. Maybe around one. It was already eight, so that gave Noah and I more than enough time to have some fun and not get caught.
"Ugh, Lacey come on." Noah shouted from downstairs. "If you take any longer we won't have enough time to do anything."
I scanned my outfit once more. Black short sleeve crop top, maroon colored high waist pants that hugged me in all the right places, and black Vans. I kind of second guessed my outfit and considered changing again when I heard Noah groan for the fifteenth time.
I rolled my eyes and yelled, "Hold your horses Noah, I'm almost ready I promise."
"Yeah, you said that three outfits ago."
I laughed at how well he knew me and grabbed my bag, sliding it on my shoulder and combing my fingers through my well straightened hair before climbing down the stairs.
"Finally." Noah playfully rolled his eyes.
I smiled and jogged to the kitchen, grabbing my house keys from the kitchen table and then forty dollars from dad's wallet. He's always leaving his wallet home and doesn't mind me taking money from it. I mean, he's never said anything and I should hope he's not that oblivious to not notice a couple twenty's missing here and there.
"Let's go." I told Noah as I locked up and shoved the money in my back pocket.
As I'm twisting the key in the lock, Noah says "Since I haven't been around for a few days, fill me in."
I turned to him and shoved my key in my pocket, frowning. "On what?"
He swings his head in the direction of Mr. Gregg's house. "Have you been hanging out with him lately?"
"Not really." I shrugged. "I haven't seen him for a few days. I've pretty much been bored." I said honestly.
Noah puts his arm around my shoulder and pulls me closer to him as we walk down the street. "Yeah well, that'll all change in a few. Perhaps we'll crash a party and I'll end up getting into some drunk girl's pants. Y'know, if I get lucky."
"You're so gross." I jokingkly gagged and slapped him on the chest.
"Nope, wrong. I'm a guy."
"I'm pretty sure not all guys think like that." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm pretty sure they do."
I opened my mouth to respond but my phone rang loudly in my pocket. My heart beat accelerated at the thought of me retrieving my phone and seeing that it was mom or dad. A wave of relief took over me when I saw Amber's name appear on the screen, a small smile decorating my lips.
"Are you calling me to brag?" I answered, sticking the phone to my ear.
"LACEY YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!"
I pulled the phone away from my ear at the sound of her high pichted shriek echoing through it.
"What am I missing?" I lightly chuckled.
