I removed the chairs from the tables in the cafe and placed them on the floor as Ashley turned on the coffee pots. Basically the same thing we did every morning. The music played softly in the background as usual, already putting me in a relaxed mood.
"Joan's coming by today," Ashley spoke as she grabbed a damp towel and went over the tables.
"Is she?" I asked.
"Yeah, she sent me a text around six this morning. Just thought I'd let you know so you don't be surprised when she gets here."
"I won't be surprised," I said as I removed the chairs from the last table. "I'll be hiding."
Ashley laughed and went over the table that I had just cleared. "You know there's no way you'll be able to hide from Joan."
"I know," I chuckled.
We took our spots behind the counter and filled the coffee fillers with ground coffee beans, watching the dark liquid pour slowly into the empty pots.
"So you're starting school again in what, less than two months?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah, but I do not want to think about that right now. School is the last of my worries."
"But this is your last year Lace. Be happy. Senior year is the best."
"Yeah I've heard." I nodded.
"But it's not all about fun. You have to make sure you're getting your work done. Especially if you want to get into a good college. Do you know where you're going yet?"
Although I wanted to avoid the topic of school as much as possible right now, I answered Ashley anyway. "Yeah. I'm going to Mountainview University."
"What're you majoring in?"
"I don't know yet," I shrugged. "But I have a year to think about that."
"Yeah," Ashley said as she stepped around the counter to get a bottle of orange juice from the fridge. "Ring me up, will ya?"
I did what she asked me to and a few seconds later, our first customer walked through thr door and up to the register.
"Welcome to Sweets and Swirls what can I get for you this morning?"

It seems like the more customers that come in, the faster the day goes by. I've been on my feet all morning tending to customers, who by the way were rushing me because they had to get to work before the rush hour. I'm usually quick with my work so having middle aged people call orders at me wasn't too sweet.
It was now after twelve which meant people were on their lunch breaks. Part of the reason why I had five customers standing before me ready to order. Ashley had her own line of people.
"Welcome to Sweets and Swirls, what can I get for you?" I asked the brunette woman standing in front of me.
She looked up at the menu above me, talking on her phone in the process. "Hold on Jen," she told the person on the phone before squinting slightly, her eyes still fixated on the menu. "I'll just have a strawberry danish and a medium coffee."
"How would you like your coffee?" I asked as I pushed the small door to the display glass and retrieved a strawberry danish.
"Black, thank you." She said, then later went back to her phone conversation. "But I don't know what to do. I mean, do I confront him or stay low for a few?"
I grabbed a medium sized coffee cup after placing her danish in a bag, and grabbed the coffee pot.
"You know what," she continued. "I'm just gonna give him a blow job. Tonight. He'll think I don't know."
