Amber held her covers to her chest, her eyes never once leaving Justin's. Her room was completely dark but with the street lights illuminating Justin's figure, she could see the muscular boy just fine. She took in his familiar features and couldn't help but wonder why he was back. Surely after what happened, he wouldn't dare step foot back onto the premises of Mountainview.

"Justin, why are you in my room?" Amber struggled to get the words out. She was shaking apprehensively as her eyes stayed put on his.

"Just what do you think you're doing," Justin spoke in his hoarse tone. "calling my girlfriend at three in the morning?"

"I uh..I--"

"Trying to tell her something? Perhaps something that has to do with me?"

Amber pulled her lips inside her mouth and kept quiet. She knew the type of person Justin was, and she didn't want to upset him. At least not that much.

Justin chuckled, making his way over to Amber's bed. He sat on the edge and uttered, "Amber, baby, when I ask you a question...you answer. At all times. So I'll ask you again. What were you doing calling my girlfriend at three in the morning?"

Amber shook her head, "L-Lacey's not your girlfriend Justin. Don't do that to her. Don't make her believe--"

Without warning, the muscular boy grabbed the petite girl's face with one hand, setting his jaw in the process. "Shut up Amber. Just shut the fûck up. If you even think about ruining what Lacey and I have, I will hurt you and that's a promise."

"Justin, that's not fair." Amber cried as she wrapped her hands around Justin's wrist in an attempt to remove his hand, but he was much too strong. His fingers felt like they were cemented to her chin.

"What's not fair Amber?" Justin growled in annoyance. "The fact that your friend makes me happy and I want to be with her?"

"She's too good for you Justin. She's so fragile, you'll hurt her." The small girl allowed a single tear to roll down her cheek.

"I will never hurt Lacey. I will never as much lay a finger on that girl. I love her."

"No you don't asshole," Amber shot. "Don't you ever fücking tell her that because she'll believe you. She'll be dumb enough to fall for it!"

Justin allowed both of his large hands to grab Amber's shoulders and push her harshly against the headboard, a loud thud following after. She winced in pain and tried to fight him off, but failed yet again.

"Why are you even here?"

"Because I need answers," he admitted.

"And you think Lacey will have them?" Amber scoffed. "She doesn't know your type Justin. She's not use to guys like you. Just leave her alone."

"It's a little too late for that." Justin smirked. "We've already fallen for each other."

"You haven't changed," Amber shook her head in disgust. "You're still that worthless, selfish, piece of shït that everyone hates. Do us all a favor and stay out of our city." She finally swiped his hands away and flung her covers from her body to stand up. She ran her fingers through her hair and swiped her phone from her bed. Amber would have to tell Lacey about Justin before it was too late.

"Do you think I give a shït about what you all think of me? I didn't give a shit three years ago and I don't give a shït now." Justin turned his attention to Amber. He didn't want to show it, but her words cut deep and hit a nerve that might just have him turning her whole room upside down. He didn't like getting mad because when he did, all hell broke loose. It was always easier for him to remain nonchalant, for the sake of himself and whoever else he had a confrontation with.

"Does Daniel know you're here?" Amber asked. She was testing him.

"I should hope not," Justin laughed as he clenched his fists at his sides. "Not if he knows what's best for him."

"Justin, please," Amber chuckled in disbelief. "You couldn't beat Daniel if you tried."

Justin remained put, though it was hard to. Amber was pushing him past his breaking point and didn't even care that she was doing so. He couldn't let her words get to him.

"Just go back to New York Justin," Amber shook her head. "That's your best decision and by the way, I'm telling Lacey about you. She deserves to know, she's too good of a person."

The minute Amber's fingers start to move on her phone Justin bounced up and grabbed it. "Amber, don't fücking test me. You should be the first person to know not to test me. I'm giving you a chance before you end up gone like the rest of the people in Lacey's life. Do you want that?"

"I want you to look me in my face and tell me if you think what you're doing is right." Amber attempted to snatch her phone back but Justin's reflexes were too fast.

"I never said it was right," he shook his head.

"Which is why I'm going to tell her."

Justin knew how persistent Amber was. He knew how bold, courageous, and fearless she was. If she wanted to tell Lacey about Justin, she would, without having any care about his feelings. When she saw something or someone doing wrong, she put an end to it. Justin had witnessed it for himself a few times before. Only this time, she wasn't stopping him. He didn't get this far only to put him back where he started.

Amber heaved out a sigh and returned to her bed, sitting on the edge. She looked up into Justin's eyes as she said, "You know I have to tell her right? Lacey...is vulnerable. She's been needing attention for years now and I don't think it's right of you to saunter into her life and give her just that, only to leave her in the dust once you get what you want."

"Think about what you're doing Amber." Justin chuckled. He joined her on her bed and continued, "If you tell Lacey about me, who's that going to hurt more? Me or her, hm? You can tell her and I'll make my way back to New York with no problem. But how do you think she's going to react? She'll be heartbroken, depressed, isolated. Is that really what you want  your best friend to go through? Or would you rather shut your fücking mouth and let me handle my business the way that I want?"

Amber lowered her head and felt her eyes well with tears, only because she knew Justin was right. She knew that if she told Lacey, her heart would be broken past repair. The girl had already been through so much over the past three years, this was only going to add to her misery. Amber was stuck between the situation because if she told Lacey, it would deeply hurt her. But if she didn't tell her, she'd be deceiving her best friend. Justin was such a manipulator and he knew how to play the game to get what he wanted. Amber hated that about him.

Justin smirked, realizing the small girl had re-thought her decision. He stood up and leaned over, placing a single kiss to her forehead. "Good girl." He uttered after patting her shoulder. Justin made his way back over to the window and lifted it. Before he left, he turned around and tossed Amber's phone across the floor. "See you around sweetface."

All Amber could think as she watched him leave her house was:

He's tainted her. He's tainted my best friend.
