After work, I hurried home to change into a tank top and shorts and went to Noah's. I hadn't seen him in a few days because of the whole punishment thing and I missed him. When I rang the doorbell I engulfed him in the biggest hug ever and he stumbled back a little from the force.
"This is your way of telling me you miss me, huh?" Noah chuckled as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
"Yep." I nodded.
"Well if you let go maybe I'll invite you in and we can hang out." He patted my back a few times so I let up and followed him in his house. "So how did your mom find out about us going on the other side of town anyway?"
I followed him into his living room and we sat down on the couch. "I left my 7Eleven cup in the foyer."
"Lacey..."
"I know, I know. I'm so stupid."
"Yeah, you are."
I lightly shoved him. "You're not suppose to agree with me doofus."
"You suck at sneaking around Lace. Honestly."
"Actually I don't." I said matter of factly. "I've been sneaking around with Justin."
The minute I said it I wanted to take it back.
"What?" Noah asked with wide eyes.
"So what are we watching?" I asked wanting to desperately to change the subject. I grabbed the remote from the coffee table but Noah snatched it and put it behind his back.
"So you've been hanging out with the guy next door to you and not me. Your best friend? Damn, that hurts."
I reached over and took the remote back. "It's not like that Noah. He's literally right next door so it's easier to hang out with him than to come down the street to hang out with you."
He shrugged. "Touche. So, what...are you guys like buddy buddy now?"
"I guess so." I smiled.
"You like him."
"And how would you know that?" I laughed.
"It's all in your face Lacey."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Just shut up and find a movie."
---
Hanging out with Noah is always so much fun. I've literally been at his house all afternoon and into the evening. We watched a couple of movies, played some video games, and when his dad and step mom came home we all played card games and had dinner.
When I had dinner at Noah's, I felt like I was apart of a family again. His parents would ask me how my family was doing, and they would ask me what was going on in my life. They would care. Maybe my mom and dad cared too they just never showed they did. That's why I've always chose dinner at Noah's over dinner at mine.
After saying my final goodbyes to the family, I exited their home and made my way to my own. As I did so, I notice Justin walking to his jeep. I hadn't seen him since the other day, since we kissed and looking at him now made me want to run up to him and do it all over again.
"Where are you going?" I asked once I reached his jeep.
"Well a hi would be nice." He half smiled as he unlocked his door.
"Hi Justin." I laughed.
"I got a new tv for my room yesterday and I need an auxiliary cable for my speakers. I was just heading to Walmart to get one."
"You know there are stores around here you can get one from right?"
"It's already eight and they'll be closing soon. Walmart is twenty-four hours. Not to mention, it's better."
