Kai's POV
Today was the day my parents lifted, I mean how can I even call them my parents they left me and Nya when she was 3. So no I will not call them my parents just by their names, Ray and Maya. "Kai, are you ready?" Nya's voice came from the doorway. "Yes, Nya we can go." I tried to hide the hate in my voice but I am sure that Nya caught on. We both walked out of the monastery, going down the stairs to get into her car and driving to our hometown.
The others only found out about Nya and me losing our parents at a very early age two days ago, when we told them that we were going back to our hometown and were very concerned about both of us but mostly Nya seeing that she has been upset for the past week, I know that she is my sister. Still, she can be annoying with this type of thing. The car ride was a silent one to Cimitray. We got out and made our way to the headstones of our parents, Nya of course bought flowers, and she placed them next to the monument. "Mum, Dad if you can hear us, just know that I'm alright and I have found out that I'm the new master of water just like you Mum and we have a new family that we love and care about." I zoned out halfway through Nya's talking, I had my hands in my pockets I tightened them into fists. 'The second that she is finished talking we are going home, I hate this whole thing.' I thought to myself, and of course, I was right.
"Kai we can go home now I told them everything I needed to," Nya said as she walked away, I followed her and I knew that I was going to yell at her. When we got into the car, I was in the driver's seat and she was in the passenger seat. 10 minutes after we left the grave yard I started to yell. "Nya every year when we go to their graves you always leave right after you have finished talking, what if I wanted to say stuff them!" I yelled at her, she was shocked at first but looked at me with a symmetric look. "Kai if you want to say something next year you can just tell me and we can stay," Nya said to me, this is where I lost it. "Nay I have tried in the past but you dis my feelings! Next year if you want to go to them then you can go by yourself or take Jay for god's sake!" I yelled at her, I think she could see that I was angry so she just left me.
The rest of the way home was quiet, when we got home we walked into the living room where the others were. They went right up to Nya and hugged her asking if she was okay, I just walked past them and into my room. Slamming the door shut and locking it, I fell to the ground, knees coming up to my chest I put my head in between my knees and just cried.
Cole's POV
When Kai and Nya came back, the first one we saw was Nya, her eyes were all puffy and red. Jay and Lloyd ran up to her asking if she was okay and comforting her. I saw a blur of brunette hair rush by me, then a slam of the door. 'What happened.' I thought to myself as I made my way to Kai's room. When I got closer to the door I heard a muffled cry. I knocked on the door. "Kai, it's me can you pls let me in?" I asked him through the door, a small click was heard and the door opened. I slipped in shutting the door behind me. "Kai what-" I was cut off by him with a hug and the feeling of my shirt getting wet. "Why does Nya have to be such a bitch about our family, like can she not just let me talk to our parents and everyone is always on her side of things when she is upset all because she was left when she was 2, did no one think about me being left at 5, did no one think that a 5-year-old had to grow up so fast and raise a 2-year-old!" I hugged Kai as he yelled into my chest.
I let Kai cry and rant about this for a bit until he took a shaky breath. "Kai, how about we sit on the bed and just take a bit to breathe and calm down then after we can watch a movie or if you are still angry we can go and train for a bit OK?" I asked him and a small nod was felt. I picked him up and sat on the bed with him on my chest and my arms still around him.
We sat like that for about an hour, I only noticed that Kai was sleeping when I heard soft snorts from him. I smiled softly kissing his head and shutting my eyes as I fell asleep.
No One's POV
When Kai and Nya came back, everyone was comforting Nya but Cole. Later everything was still the same as normal everyone gave no second thought to Kai and Cole. When the next morning rolled around Kai and Cole came out for breakfast. "Morning, anyone want a coffee?" Kai came in and asked, only to be ignored "Sure I'll have on please Kai." Cole said with a smile but the others just ignored them. During breakfast was the same, everyone ignored Kai and Cole, Cole noticed that Kai was just shutting down and looking very upset. Cole nugged Kai softly and asked "You good" A small nod came from Kai, and that's when Cole knew what was going on.
Cole turned to the others sitting at the other end of the table minding their own business. "What is your problem!?" He yelled at the others, they turned and Jay death glared at Kai. "Then asked him why he thought it was ok to yell at Nya!" Jay yelled directing it at Kai. "Kai had every right to yell at Nya, leave him out of it and answer the bloody question!" Cole yelled back. "Leave Kai out of it, Nya has already suffered enough with losing her parents at 2 and now her brother yelling at her!" Jay yelled. Cole was about to say something when Kai took the words right out of his mouth. "I WAS 5 YEARS OLD WHEN WE LOST OUR PARENTS, I WAS 5 YEARS OLD TAKING CARE OF A 2-YEAR-OLD, I WAS 5 YEARS OLD MAKING SURE WE DID NOT DIE OR END UP ON THE STREETS, HOW HAS NYA SUFFERED MORE THAN I HAVE!" Kai yelled, with tears running down his face. "You know what believe who you want but I'm leaving," Kai said as he got up and started walking out.
Cole flipped the bird at everyone and got up to follow Kai. "Kai wait," Cole called out to him. "Cole please leave me alone," Kai said as he walked away. Cole caught up to KAi and wrapped his arms around Kai. "Kai, you can leave but I'm coming with you," Cole whispered in his ear Kai nodded, Cole untangled his arms around Kai but kept one around his waist. "We will get through this together OK," Cole said as he kissed Kai's head. "Ok," Kai said as they walked down the mountain and into Ninjago.
