Kai's POV
Laying awake on my bed just staring at the ceiling waiting for sleep to take me, I know that even if I tried to sleep, the thought of Nya would come back to me. turning over to look at the clock I see that it's 5:30 am. 'The others are going to be up soon, let's just get this day over with.' I say to myself getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom, I turn the water on to heat up, I take my hair out of the little ponytail, take off my clothes and finally, I step into the shower. Just feeling the water on my sink, I start to relive every moment I had with Nya. Trying to ignore them I make quick work while in the shower and get out not wanting to relive any more. I grabbed the towel drying myself off and brushing through my hair to tie it back. Hearing the others slowly wake up from upstairs I quickly get dressed before they see me like this. But of course, as I walk out Jay has to see me like this, of all people Jay.
He looks at me, the dark circles under my eyes feel to dark, the face that once had a smile on it anytime I saw one of them. But there was not a smile on my face for Jay, just the feeling of wanting to curls up into a little ball and disrepair.
As I try and sidestep him he blocks the way. "Kai, can you talk with me please or Cole? We are all worried about you." Hearing my name spoken like that made me flinch, I look at him for a moment to see him try and catch my eye. "Sorry." That's all I say before I jump up onto the beams and go to my room from there.
I sit on my bed thinking about each time Nya came back from a date with Jay and she would tell me about it. Even that just put me in a panic, trying to breathe but my mind was all over the place. 'Cole! Find Cole!' My Mind screamed at me. Getting up from my bed and getting out of my room. I stumbled around a little as the panic kept rising inside of me, knocking things over as I tried to fine Cole.
Passing the living room where I heard two voices call out to me but I did not stop or recognise the voices I just had to make my way to Cole. Feeling hands come around my arm, I let out a small scream of panic. "Cole!" Was all I yelled before I fell to the ground backing up into the wall. Hands in my hair, knees pulled up into my chest and tears in my eyes.
Cole's POV
"Cole!" Was all I heard from the hallway leading out of the monastery. Running back in, I heard the others yelling in commotion at the situation getting to the, I saw the others surrounding Kai. 'Yep going to be one of those panic attacks.' I through as I walked over. "Guys just move out of the way, I'll take care of it ok" I told them and they nodded knowing full well that I could. Kneeling down in front of Kai. I heard him mutter the same six words over and over 'Cole safe touch, them no touch.' I try and get his attention but he has no idea that I'm here, I just wait for him to move out of his current position so I can help him.
This takes a little while but finally he moves in a way that I can touch his knee, the moment he realises that I was here I moved so I was covering his view of the others. He grabbed my arm with both hands and used it as a way to crawl from the position he was in and into my chest. I wrapped my arms around him to make him feel safe, he was still crying but when he felt my arms around him I could feel him start to calm down. "Kai do you want to tell me what happened." I asked him while drawing patterns on his back. "Room and tell." He said softly.
I picked him up and he moved into a position that blocked his view of the others. I turn around to them. "Can you guys do me a favour?" I ask and they nod. "Can you please keep the volume down quite a bit and don't wait up for us with breakfast." I tell them before I turn around and walk to Kai's room, which was Nya's old room. I opened the door and walked in shutting the door behind me as I walked towards the bed. I sat down on the bed and lined on the pillows. "Do you want to tell me now?" I asked Kai again. He pushed up on my chest and grabbed my hand to fidget with and hold it for comfort. "Umm...I bumped into Jay when I came out of the bathroom and he...ummm...he said can you talk to him or you about what's going on, he then kinda tried to corner me but I made it back to my room. Ummm...when I went back I started to get all the memories of when Nya came back from a date with Jay and would tell me about it. But I have kinda been in a panic even since...you know." He told me while playing with my hand but I could feel his breath become uneven again.
I sat up more and hugged Kai as I pushed him against my chest with my free hand and was gently rubbing his back to try and calm him down. I put my cheek on top of his head and whispered soft words to him. After a bit he had calmed down and had fallen back asleep, I kissed his head and lied back down and feel asleep with him.
That day we did not wake up until the afternoon and spent the day together in his room. And he promised that from now one he would let us (mainly Cole) help him and try and come out and engage with them. But for know he was going to stick with Cole.
