Ken arrived at the daycare and waited for Pau to come out. He crouches down when he sees his son running to him.
"Daddy!" Masayang pagbati ng bata. Agad naman siyang niyakap ng tatay.
"Hey there, buddy. Namiss mo naman ata si Daddy? How was your day-," Ken pauses when they break the hug, squints as he studies his son's appearance. "What happened to your favorite clip-on, anak?" Ken asked, concerned.
Pau sheepishly smiled at him. "I gave it to Teytey, Daddy. He likes it!"
Ken was surprised, but finds it sweet that his son had given away something he loved to make a friend happy.
"That's very kind of you, Paulo," he said, ruffling his son's hair.
Napansin din ni Ken na may bitbit bitbit siyang stuffed toy na dinosaur. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Ehh, eto? San nanggaling ang dinosaur mo? Did your teacher let you take this home?"
Pau grinned. "Oh no! It's Teytey's toy! Nagplay po kami, Daddy. Tapos niaalagan namin si baby dinosaur namin. Nibigay nya sakin si baby dinosaur para po makita niya yung house naten! Tapos papatulugin ko siya sa bed ko, tapos Daddy bukas uuwi na si baby kay Teytey."
"Aaahw." Ken looks at his son fondly.
Damn, that is so nice? Usually madadamot mga bata pagdating sa laruan. But here is my son and his newly found friend taking turns taking care of 'their baby dinosaur' already?
"Ang cute cute naman ng unico hijo ko. That's great! I'm glad you made a good friend."
The boy beamed with pride. "He's so nice, Daddy! He cooked for me!" Kwento niya habang nakahawak sa kamay ni Ken habang naglalakad sila papunta sa kotse.
"Oh really?" Ken mused "What did he cook for you?"
"Hotdogs! They're not real though. But he still cooked!"
Ken chuckles. "Ang defensive naman anak, wala pa naman akong sinabi. I'm happy to hear that, Pau. It's important to have good friends who share and take care of each other."
Ken knew he made the right decision na mag allocate ng time para ihatid at sundo si Paupau, kahit na busy siya, and he could've just had their driver and nanny to pick him up, but no. With his son, there is no such thing as busy.
I promised. I promised her that I will love you always. I promised na hinding hindi kita pababayaan anak.
He knew that Pau was learning valuable lessons about friendship and generosity that would stay with him for a long time. He was happy to be there to watch him and listen to him talk about his day at the center, it's those simple things that make it worthwhile.
Oh, my little prince, I know your Mommy is so proud of you.
