Kahit pala sa mga bata, uso ang chismis ano?
It was an Arts & Crafts Friday, so the children are gathered in the room molding colorful clays into the subject of their choices. (Obvious na siguro kung anong gagawin ni Teytey ano? Ror.)
Teytey and Paupau sat across each other, watching and complimenting each other's clay creations.
Beside Teytey is another 5-year-old kid named Vio, who is eyeing the two kids carefully.
Sa pag ngiti niyang mapang asar ay kita mo na na para bang may binabalak siyang gawin. Umusog siya nang kaunti sa tabi ni Tey, sumiko at saka bumulong.
VIO: Teytey.
TEYTEY: Ha?
VIO: Pwede penge nung yellow mo?
TEYTEY: Okay. [nag-abot ng yellow clay]
VIO: Thank you. Teytey, totoo ba?
TEYTEY: Ang alin?
VIO: Crush mo b-
Bago nya pa matapos yung tanong eh biglang sumingit yung isa pang katabi ni Teytey.
JAYNE: Mag-asawa daw kayo ni Paulo, sabi ni Gigi?!?
The girl said a little too loudly, causing some of their classmates to turn their heads in their direction.
VIO: [gasps exaggeratedly] Asawa?!!? Kasal na kayo?!?!
TEYTEY: Hindi. Ano ba yung kasal?
VIO: It's when two people get married tapos they promise to love each other forever!
PAUPAU: Ang ingay ingay mo naman, Vio!
APPLE: Eh diba may baby kayo?
VIO: [gasps exaggeratedly] MAY BABY NA KAYO?!
PAUPAU: We're playing house, of course, we have a baby.
GELO: Nikita ko nga sila nag kiss eh...
The boy nonchalantly said. Some of the girls giggled at that information.
VIO: [gasps exaggeratedly] NAGKISS KAYO??! Tapos, tapos di kayo kasal? Bad kaya yon!
The kids look at them in curiosity. Teka bakit bad yun?
VIO: Alam mo ba kung bakit kayo nagkababy? Ganun kasi pag nagkikiss, nagkakababy! 😱
They said it like they were telling a conspiracy theory. Teytey's face twists into confusion.
TEYTEY: Nipagsasabe nento?
PAUPAU: Parang di naman.
VIO: Ganun kaya! Satingin mo pano tayo naging baby?? Kasi nagkikiss mga mommy and daddy naten!
The other kids seemed to believe it. Paupau on the other hand gives them a very unconvinced look.
PAUPAU: Parang di naman ganon yon Vio.
Biglang tumayo si Vio sa kinauupuan to point at Paulo with their flexible ruler.
VIO: Hephep-! Mas matanda ako sayo, makinig ka saken! 😤
Paupau flips his hair, rolling his eyes in annoyance. Ang kulit naman neto.
Teytey looks up at his seatmate, frowning.
TEYTEY: Eh, pano na gagawin namin? ☹
The kid smiles at them as they offer the boys a solution.
VIO: Ay, wag kayo mag-alala. Edi ikakasal naten kayo! Dun sa garden mamaya! 🥰
TEYTEY: [squints his eyes] Wala naman pawi dito.
VIO: Ako bahalaaaa! Mayor kaya tito ko! 😌 Alam ko panu yon!
PAUPAU: I don't really want to play...
He muttered, crossing his arms. Medyo naiinis si Paulo.
Bakit ba kayo nakikisali sa laro namin ni Teytey?
Pau looks across the table, the girls are chatting with Teytey about how a wedding works, (or at least what preschoolers know about it).
TEYTEY: Hmmm. Di pa ako nakakapunta sa ganun eh. ☹ Masaya ba yun? 🥺
GIGI: Oo naman! Nag wear kame ng beautiful dress and I was the flower girl. ☺😊
JAYNE: Me too, me too! Nagsuot kami ng flower crowns!
APPLE: Madaming foods sa ganun!
Paulo thinks about it, he remembers being the ring bearer for his aunt Cecil's wedding last year. It wasn't that bad. His daddy Ken even made a really cool suit for him.
He glanced across again and this time Teytey is giving him a doe-eyed look.
TEYTEY: Paupau, do you want to play wedding outside? 🥺
Teytey's lips curved into a smile, looking hopeful.
Dahil sa mga kwento nila ay na curious si Teytey. It sounded really fun. Now everyone's eyes are on Paupau, waiting for his answer. Not that he really cared about the rest of them at the moment, he only thinks about how Teytey would enjoy the game.
Paulo sits up straight, clicked his tongue, then smiles back at his friend.
He makes up his mind.
PAUPAU: Okay, let's play.
