11 Weeks

"Elodie?" Luke calls as he walks into the house, hanging his keys on the peg by the garage door.

"Living room." He hears her call, heading that direction quickly.

"How are you feeling tonight?" He asks as soon as she comes into sight.

"Much better. Thank you." She looks extra happy, and maybe nervous, her eyes darting to the bouquet of flowers sitting on the coffee table.

"What's this?" Luke's eyebrows scrunch in confusion.

"They're for you." She tries to act nonchalant but something about her demeanor is making him suspicious.

"What?" He chuckles, pulling the card out of the top and flipping it open.

I know a Man

I know a man who's the very best,
A man who's a step above the rest.

I know a man who's sweet and kind,
A man who's a very rare find.

I know a man who's gentle and sweet,
A man whose character will never be beat.

I know a man who always loves in complete, a man whose heart's about to grow by two feet.

I know a man who will make the best dad,
A man who our baby will never call bad...

"El?" Luke's eyes are glistening as he looks up from the small poem.

"Yeah?" She can't help her own tears, standing to meet him.

"You're pregnant?" He asks, his hands falling to her waist.

"Yeah." She chuckles, toeing up to meet his kiss.

"When? How? What?" He chuckles, hugging her tightly to his chest.

"Come here." She laughs, pulling him down onto the couch with her.

"When did you find out?"

"About six hours ago." She shrugs, "I woke up feeling a lot better and went to organize the bathroom. I found that box Mike and Crystal gave us to announce that they were adopting Indy, and an unopened box of tampons I bought in December and it clicked."

"So last night, being sick?"

"Morning sickness, apparently I got off easy though, just those stomach aches and lack of appetite the last few weeks, and then last night is all."

"How far along are you?"

"Somewhere between eleven and twelve weeks. Here." She reaches over to the table, grabbing the sonogram photos he hadn't noticed sitting against the vase. "This is our baby, Lu."

"Look how perfect." He chuckles as more tears bead from his eyes, his head falling to rest on hers gently. "You already went to the doctors and everything?"

"I called them panicking and they had an opening. I had to get in before we head for Australia next week." She nods.

"Oh, shit! What are we going to do about the tour?" His eyes look panicked suddenly.

"Nothing, Dr. Sutton said everything looks fine. He's running a blood test too and will send us those results on Thursday. I have to stay hydrated and rest when I need to, but he said I should be fine to work the tour."

"You're sure?"

"Yeah, if it will make you feel better we can tell Peter, so he can keep an eye out for me while you're on stage and help if need be. I think I'll be fine though."
