Dewey and Gale have been happily married. As the years go on, they drift apart. 8 year old Gabbie is left in the middle of them.

Dewey leaves to go to work.
"Bye dad." Gabbie smiles at her dad.
"Bye princess." Dewey smiles back.
Dewey grabs his coffee and keys then he heads out the door.

Gabbie walks over to Gale, who was typing on her computer. Gale hears Gabbie call her name.
"What's the problem, Gab?" Gale asks.
"Why does dad have to leave all the time?" She asks while looking like she was about to cry.

Gale picks Gabbie up and places her on her lap.
"He has to go to work." Gale explains.
"I miss him." Gabbie starts to tear up.
"I know it's hard without him here all of the time."

Gale starts to rock Gabbie back and fourth and rub circles on her back. This helps Gabbie calm down.
"I love you mama." Gabbie sadly smiles.
"I love you too." Gale smiles back.

Gale continues to hold Gabbie for a little longer.
"You know what will make you feel better?" Gale asks.
"What?"
"Aunt Sidney is coming back to town today." Gale exclaims.
"Yay! I love aunt Sidney!" Gabbie smiles.
"Let's get ready to see her." Gale tells Gabbie as she places her back on the floor.

Gale gets dressed and then she chooses a dress for Gabbie to wear. They get in the car and drive to the book signing Sidney is doing.

They get to the book signing. Gale gets Gabbie out of the car she grabs her hand. They hold hand while they walk through. They see Sidney talking to an audience about her book. She finishes her sentence and looks over to see Gale and Gabbie.

She pulls Gale into a hug then Gabbie. Sidney looks back and sees Dewey standing there.
"Dewey!" Sidney shouts and runs over to him. They pull each other into a hug.

"Daddy!" Gabbie shouts and runs over too.
Sidney and Gabbie both hold onto Dewey. They all then let go.
"Gale, get Gabbie back." Dewey pushes Gabbie towards Gale lightly.

Gale takes Gabbie's hand. They look at Dewey, waiting for a explanation.
"What's going on?" Gale asks.
"Excuse me! This will only take a second! I need you all to stay where you are and remain silent." Dewey shouts to the crowd there for Sidney's book signing.

The crowd tries to move and Deputy Hicks tells them to stay back.
Gale hands Gabbie over to Sidney.
"What's going on?" Gale asks.
"Gale, this is police business." Hicks adds.
"Listen, there's a phone we believe might've been taken from the scene of a crime. Deputy Hicks has traced its location to these coordinates. The rest is need to know."

Gabbie squeezes Sidney's hand harder.
"I'm scared Aunt Sid." Gabbie mutters.
"It's gonna be alright." Sidney reassures Gabbie.

Dewey dials the phone that was tracked. The phone starts to ring. Another deputy says the ringing is coming from outside. The crowd rushes outside.

Sidney continues to hold Gabbie's hand as they run out. The phone rings from inside a car. Gale and Sidney are right next to Dewey.

"Dewey." Sidney mutters.
"Not now Sid." Dewey says.
"It's my rental." Sidney adds.
Sidney's manager hands Dewey the keys.

The police unlock the car and open the trunk. They see Sidney's book covered in blood with the phone ringing inside it.
"Ok, now an official crime scene." Dewey shouts.
Sidney pushes Gabbie behind her so she can't see the crime scene.

"Please tell me this is a prank, Dewey." Sidney tells Dewey.
"I'm afraid not Sid."
Dewey wraps his arm around Sidneys back and takes her away from the scene.
Sidney keeps a good grip on Gabbie.

Gabbie looks back and she sees Gale walking towards the car.
"Mama!" Gabbie yells toward Gale.

Sidney picks Gabbie up and sits her on her hip.
"Your mom is gonna be right behind us." Sidney reassures Gabbie.
Dewey brings them to the police station.
