11 years later

Gabbie is now 19. She's taking a rest year before starting college. Her parents got divorced and she sees each of them every other week. This week she is with her mom.

9:10 am

I wake up and look at my phone to see what time it was. I read 9:10 on my phone before getting out of bed. I go downstairs to see my mom getting ready for work.

"Good morning, mom." I say as I walk into the kitchen.
"Good morning, Gabs, how'd you sleep?" Gale says after smiling at me.
"Good."
"That's good to hear."

My mom takes a piece of toast, butters it, then sits down at the table. I sit down next to her.
"You wanna come with me on set today?" She asks.
"Sure." I agree.
"Ok be ready to leave in 20 minutes."
"Ok." I say before going back upstairs.

I get ready for the day and chose a cute outfit. I go back downstairs with 5 minutes to spare. I grab a granola bar and start to eat it while waiting for my mom.

She comes downstairs dressed and ready to go.
"You ready?" Gale asks.
"Yep." Gabbie stands up and goes out the door with her mom.

They both head to the car. They make small talk while driving to set.
"How's your dad?" Gale asks.
"He feels bad, like always." I mutter.
"I'm sorry that you have to be in between this." She mutters back.
"It's fine, mom, I love you both and I'm ok with having to see you both every other week."
"I know." Gale nods.

She pulls into the parking lot and parks the car in her normal spot. We both get out the car and walk over to the set.

"Mini Gale is here today!" One of mom's coworkers shouted.
"Yes she is." Gale smiles.
"Ughh. She's so grown up."
"I know, I can't believe she's already 19."
"Time flies."
"I have to get ready for the show, but we'll talk later." Gale says before walking over to the setup for her morning show.

"Hey Gale. We go on air in 5 minutes." Her boss tells her.
"Ok." Gale says before settling down in her seat.
I sit in a chair near the camera man.

5 minutes later

"Good morning, I'm Gale Weathers." Gale introduces herself before telling the audience about what she's gonna talk about.

1 hour later

"Now that's wrapping up the show today." Gale ends the show.
The cameras go off and she gets out of her desk and walks over to me.

"What would you like to do for your last day with me this week?" Gale asks.
"Can we please go shopping?" I ask.
"Sure. Let's go to the mall."

We go to the car after saying goodbye to everyone. Gale drives down to the mall. We both get out of the car and walk over to the mall.

We enter through Macys and pick out some clothes. We get our selection and head to the dressing rooms. We go into our separate rooms and get changed.

We both walk out and show each other the outfit.
"Oh my god. That would be perfect to wear on your show." I exclaim.
"That shirt fits you well." Gale adds.
"I'm keeping it." I say before going back into the dressing room.

We continue that same routine with the other clothes we bought. We finish up and go to the next store. After that I decided I wanted a new pair of jeans from American Eagle.

We head to American Eagle and I chose a pair of jeans. I get a lady to open me a dressing room. I go into the dressing room and change.

I come out and show my mom. She looks at them for a few seconds.
"Turn around. Let me see the back." Gale says.
I turn around and show her.
"I like them." She says.
"Ok!" I smile before going back into the dressing room.

We buy the jeans and go to the food court. I order a sub and Gale orders some Chinese. We eat and make small talk at our table. When we finish, we head home.

"What do you wanna do for your last few hours here?" Gale asks.
"You wanna watch a movie?" I suggest.
"Sure, I'll make the popcorn." Gale starts making popcorn and I look for a movie. I settle on Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.

Gale comes over with the popcorn and sees the movie I chose.
"Why'd you chose a kids movie?" Gale asks.
"You don't remember the first time I watched this movie?"
"Doesn't ring a bell."
"After the Ghostface attacks in 2011."
"Hunny." Gale mutters while sitting the popcorn down and sitting herself down. She grabs my hands.

"What?" I ask.
"Why do want to watch something that reminds you of all that trauma?"
"I don't know, I just do."
"Is it because you're influenced at Woodsboro? They always talk about the killings. Is your dad getting things into your head about it? I can't let you go back to Woodsboro if it's gonna bring the trauma up."
"No mom! Dad and Woodsboro aren't influencing me! I just wanted to watch the movie. I didn't mean anything when I said that it was the movie we watched after." I snap at her.

"I'll let it slide this time, but if you bring this up again the next week you're here, you're not going back." Gale says.
"Ok." I mutter.

We watch the movie in peace. The movie ends and we get up from the couch.
"I'm sorry." Gale breaks the silence.
"It's ok, I shouldn't have brought it up."
"Drive home safely." Gale pulls me into a hug.
"Bye mom, I love you." I say pulling away from the hug.
"I love you too."

I grab my keys and walk out to my car. I get in the car and start up the GPS. I start my long drive back to Woodsboro.
