⋆*.•Neteyam POV•.*⋆
Idiot, idiot. Why would you think he likes you! You stupid weak baby, thats what you are you know. Just a big stupid baby. A burden to everyone around you, you heard what he said; a distraction.
The village horn blows.
I look up from the ground and look outside, everyone is rushing to the edge of the beach. Following the crowds, I see a tulkun. Dead. I rush to the edge of the beach, seeing Ronal and Tonowari in the water. My parents beside them.
What could've happened to the tulkun?
My question gets answered when I see the orange air bag under the tulkun's fins. Sky people. "What is this Tonowari?! What is this!?" the chilling screams of the tsahìk are heard around the village. I turn my head and see Tsireya being comforted by Lo'ak, who is looking straight at the dead tulkun, empty look on his face.
They followed us here
---------------------------------
"Listen to me!" my father's pleas get overridden by the loud hissing of the inhabitants of the village. "Listen!" I yell as loud as I can, grabbing the pinger from my dad and holding it up above my head, silencing the village.
"Tell your Tulkun, that if they're hit by one of these, they are marked for death!" my dad pushes me aside and takes the device from my hand again. "And call me, I can silence it" he turns to look at Tonowari and Ronal again. "Saving their lives, that's all the matters, right?" the Olo'eyktan thinks for a second before nodding.
"Warn your Tulkun! go! go!" I see Lo'ak running to one of the Ilu saddling decks. I follow him, knowing that he is probably going to do something that is not allowed. Rushing as he does so, he is saddling an Ilu.
"No way you're riding out of here baby brother" I stop him and watch him turn to me with an annoyed expression. "I have to warn Payakan about the pingers!" He tries to continue saddling the Ilu but I put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "No, you have to keep your skxawng ass here!" he rolls his eyes and looks past me at the open water.
"He is outcast! there is nobody to warn him but me!" he turns back to me, trying to convince me to let him go. "Bro, why do you always have to make things so hard?" I give him a jokey smile, trying to lighten the mood. "No, you mean: 'Why can't I be the perfect son like you! The perfect little soldier'!" I take a step back from my brother, trying to process what he had just said.
"Well I'm not you! I'm not you, Okay?" He pushes my arm off his shoulder and glares at me. "He's my brother, I'm going!" in that moment I have to do everything in my power not to break down. "Oh he's your brother? No, I'm your brother!" I hold back the tears threatening to fall from my eyes as I hear splashing from behind me.
"Lo'ak!" I here Tsireya calling from behind me, I stand frozen in place as I watch Lo'ak jump into the water and start swimming away on his Ilu. I turn around and see that Tsireya and Ao'nung are here. "He is going to warn Payakan!" I hit Ao'nung in the chest to bring him out of whatever train of thought he was in.
I dive into the water, not bothering to saddle and Ilu and just going after my brother as fast as I can. I see him standing on Payaka, looking at something. I get out of the water to see what he is looking at and see a pinger stuck in Payakan's side. Tsireya and Ao'nung come out of the water as well, along with Kiri, Rotxo and Tuk.
the seven of us start trying to pull out the pinger, but to no avail. "Shit" I look up to see what Lo'ak was cursing about and see the demon ship coming in our direction. "Go tell dad" I push him away from the pinger and he does as I say.
I get onto the Ilu Lo'ak had and attach some rope onto It's saddle, throwing the other end to Ao'nung. He fumbles with thee rope for a second before tying it to the pinger. "Alright guys, three, two, one, Go!" I swim forwards with the Ilu as much as I can, the others pulling on the pinger as well.

We finally get the orange device out of the tulkun causing us all to fall in the water. "Go! I'll distract them!" I'm about to argue with Neteyam, not wanting him to be in danger, but he just pushes me under the water and swims away. In the distance I see Rotxo and Kiri and I swim after them.
As we are trying to swim to safety, two sky people in a clear underwater ship come towards us. Kiri swims forwards and connects her braid to one of the plants. Moving her arms around she grabs the sky people's ship with the plants, non-chalantly disconnecting her braid and swimming up into one of the air bubbles to catch her breath.
Me and Rotxo give eachother a 'wtf' look, and swim up after her. "How did you do that?" the three of us stay in the air bubble, trying to catch our breath. "Not important, we have to get back to the village. Or at least far away from the ship" I take a quick breath to go down and see if there is anybody really close.
"The coast is clear, let's just swim in that general direction. I think the adults should be there, and that's probably what the others are going to be doing" I look to the others for conformation and they both nod. All three of us take a deep breath, before diving and starting to swim out of the maze of seaweed.
'go! go! go!' I sign to the others to make them hurry up because they are significant amount of distance behind. Kiri points to the surface, signalling that she needs to take a breath. I nod and swim up as well, just in time to see a big bird-like creature snatch Kiri from the water. "Kiri! no!" Rotxo tries to swim after them but the bird is much fast in the air than we are in the water.
"Come on Rotxo, we have to get back to the parents. They can help Kiri" I convince him and he follows me back to where the adults are waiting to attack. "Damn it! they have our kids, it's your daughter as well" Jakes words cause me to look back over at the ship, tied to the railing on the top I see Lo'ak, Tuk, and... Reya.
