Chapter 38 - Reading Nicknames
Percy woke up slowly, opening his eyes and shutting them immediately again when the sun almost blinded him. He groaned as he opened his eyesight completely, hating the sunlight. Percy frowned slightly, inwardly swearing that the bed wasn't usually as warm as it was.
Fan girls let out squeals, already thinking about what would happen, and Aphrodite and her cabin were the loudest.
Percy winced and rubbed his temples; despite being immortal, he still could get headaches, which was not surprising, just annoying. He just kept reading, using all his power to read.
Fuck reading shouldn't hurt his eyes so much.
Then his pillow moved up, then down again, and Percy froze. No... he couldn't have moved in the night. His pillow moved again, and Percy swore under his breath, turning his attention to his pillow. Or, to Kronos. In the night, he'd somehow moved so he was lying across Kronos' chest, which meant that at some point, Kronos had woken up and turned over, likely aggravating his injury. So when his pillow was moving, it was Kronos breathing.
Annabeth swallowed and listened as the book was being read, her mind wondering if Percy would ever like her again to do this. To sleep in his arms, to see those beautiful green eyes open as he woke. She held onto her memories of doing that and wished she could have an eternity of that. Just gazing into those eyes.
Athena started to pay attention more, wondering what information they could use to defeat the titans in this timeline, was it even possible?
Percy in this timeline was only in Tartarus for a few months, would they still be able to save the hero? And despite not wishing a sea spawn on her daughter, she just wished to see her happy again.
Percy swallowed. If Kronos found out how Percy had been sleeping Percy would never hear the end of it. Percy started to move away, but Kronos' hand suddenly moved and stopped him.
"Don't," the Titan murmured, his voice still sleepy.
"That's so cute!!! Ares sometimes flowers are a nice thing to do and cuddles!!"
Hepastsus hid a grumble, but he summoned bronze and he began to sculpt flowers. Just because he was fine with his wife slutting around, he still loved her dearly, even if she despised him. He wanted her to be happy, he wasnt the immortal she needed. He wondered if he could fix himself, then thought otherwise, he was born this way and he could only fool mortals with the mist.
Once he had a small bouquet, he painted them a soft purple and pink, and green stems. He tied a bow and gave it to Aphrodite.
Her blue eyes met his own brown ones and when she smiled at him for the first time in forever his heart raced.
Ares glared at him as he sat down but he didnt give a fuck. He was just a kid throwing a tantrum and hopefully Aphrodite could learn to like him as he tried to show her he was a gentleman.
Maybe someday he could wake up to her weight on his own chest.
Percy cleared his throat. "Kronos, this is weird."
"I'm not the one that moved into that position in the night," the Titan said smugly.
"I'm pretty sure I didn't do it out of free will," Percy said.
"You'd be wrong. I was rather surprised to find you lying like that when I woke up."
"Yeah, well I don't feel comfortable here. So let go of me," Percy said, lying through his teeth – the Titan was surprisingly comfortable.
