So the author didn't lose their mind, lucky for you.I had to switch to clear contact-lenses after finding that I indeed did not lose my petrification powers.
Too bad no one makes green glasses in this century.
I was at the scroll shop. The cross-dressing old man/ woman, does it even matter? Anyways, Toph was showing me earth-bending moves.
Toph also couldn't see, I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't read her mind.
It turns out she was way more important than I thought as well to the point where she had her own statue in Rebuplic city.
I somehow ran into an important character against my will again.
She was okay though, I didn't plan to grow any emotional attachments but she took care of me and also worked me to the bone.
I guess it was fair.
"And then make sure you foot is steady, and then like this." She plants her foot on the ground, making a rock she picked from outside fly out of the floor.
"What's the point of this? I'm a water bender," I reminded the older woman.
"Doesn't matter, you can still learn a thing or two." She crosses her arm, noticing my lack of enthusiasm.
"If you keep staring blankly like that, you'll make me sad."
"You can't even see me."
"You seem like the type to hold a blank face and express an ounce of emotion once every millennia." She stated with a shrug.
"Very good observation."
"I try." She smirked cockily at my compliment. For an old woman, she seemed rather lively and still dressed like an old man in attempt to disguise herself.
Wait a minute, how did she know my hair was colorful? I totally forgot about that.
"How did you know about my hair color?"
"Old people intuition." She shrugged, "What color is it though?"
"You don't wanna know."
"It can't be that bad." She insisted.
"It's pink."
The room was silent for a good 30 seconds before she busted out laughing. "PINK?! HAHAHA." She rolls on the ground, tears in her eyes.
I shook my head.
She was more immature than me.
"Just dye it black or something!" She exclaimed and then stood up, smacked my arm and was now walking towards a shelf of scrolls on the left side of the shop.
"Maybe I should.." I trailed off, watching her attempt to reach for a scroll on a shelf I just spent hours organizing.
I quickly teleported behind her and grabbed it before the whole thing came collasping.
"Here." I handed it to her.
"Hmm, it was like you teleported or something." She states and I felt my heart nearly stop.
"What are you even saying?"
"I felt your presence move from there to here in a split second, so weird." She said pointing to the directions.
How the hell??
"I can sense people with my feet, it's my way of seeing. That's why I don't wear shoes." She finally informs me.
Of course, a crazy old blind cross-dressing lady with feet for eyes that can sense when I use my powers.
How wonderful.
Another obstacle.
"I just jumped?" I said, unsure of what was spewing out of my mouth.
"I would have known if you did, that didn't feel like a jump." She quickly retorts, trying to back up her claim.
"I think you are imagining things, you should relax." I push her towards the couch, "Very funny, don't gaslight me! My senses have never failed me." She huffed with her arms crossed, scroll clasped in her left palm. Her legs were rested on the chair and a strand of grey hair rested on her nose.
"Here, a good scroll on water-bending, If I picked the right one. I've never actually felt you bend before so I thought, maybe you're a beginner." She threw the scroll towards me and I caught it with ease.
I untied it and opened it up, a series begginer of moves were illustrated on the scroll.
I began speaking, "I don't think I wan-"
"Oh shut it. You're staying here and you're learning to bend. What happens if the shop gets robbed? You think an old man is gonna save ya? I don't think so." She shuts me down, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Fine." I gave up.
Must be another plot convenience.
Me learning to bend must be important to this plot. I could still not do it and find a way to stop this but the plot must progress although, it'd be better if I wasn't involved.
But somehow I keep getting involved.
"Now about that secret..mind telling me what it is? I thought eh it's probably none of my business but I am feeding you and giving you a place to stay so.." Toph reminded with a cheeky smile.
"I don't have a secret."
"Liar."
"I really don't."
"Liar."
"I'm not lying."
"Liar."
I groaned internally, "How do you even know if I'm lying or not? I am telling the truth."
"I told you, I can sense these things with my feet."
Of course, the feet.
"I guess being blind forced you to adapt to using your feet to sense things." I stated.
"Don't try to change the subject bubble-gum boy."
Maybe I will dye my hair black.
"Spill." She ordered sternly.
I was going to do something very stupid, I wanted to see how this would help with the plot.
"I can bend all the four elements." I said, it was a partial truth so this should help me get past her lie detector feet.
She was now quiet, "What..?" She worded out in disbelief, clearly she knew I wasn't lying.
Bingo, I escaped.
"Another Avatar...? This changes everything.." The air suddenly became heavy and thunder roared loudly in the skies. The entire mood changed because of that one sentence?
Did I mess something up?
Perhaps this was a bad idea.
"Close up the shop." Toph said to me in a serious tone.
Good grief.
