The next morning Ashton was coming to pick Ally up for school in the Blueberry.

"Hey loser." Ashton said as Ally got into the passenger seat.

"Hey Ash." Ally said cheerfully.

Ashton gave her a look, "Why are you all smiles?"

"Oh no reason." Ally said, trying to hide her smile but failing.

"Tell me Ally." Ashton demanded as she started to drive to school.

"Okay. Griffin and I are kind of a thing." Ally said.

"Kind of a thing?" Ashton yelled nearly swerving and hitting the sidewalk.

Ally nodded and smiled.

"I thought he had hooked up with some girl and we were anti Griffin." Ashton said, raising her eyebrows.

"Me too, but then I gave him a chance to talk and I really want this to work." Ally said hopefully.

Ashton paused, "This is what you want?"

Ally nodded.

"And he makes you happy?" She asked again.

Ally smiled and said yes.

"Well if that's the case I'm glad you guys are a thing now." Ashton said, lightly punching Ally's arm.

"Thanks Ash, it means a lot." Ally said, grabbing her bag from the ground since they were at school.

Ashton smiled, "Of course Ally, anytime."

That morning in English, Ally kept on sneaking peeks at Griffin. He looked the way he always did, but Ally couldn't stop. At one point Griffin caught her and held her gaze with his blue eyes. Ally looked away first but could still feel him looking at her. A little later she got a note passed to her and this time she read it,

Meet me at my car?

Ally looked up at Griffin and nodded. At lunch, Ally was walking to the cafeteria when Romeo stopped her.

"Is it true that you're dating Griffin Parker?" He asked, anger creeping into his voice.

"Yeah I guess so." Ally said.

Romeo sighed in exasperation, "Why Ally? He's not your type. I don't know why you even like him."

Ally was surprised with Romeo's answer, "Romeo it's not your choice to make. I really like him, why can't you just be happy for me?"

"Because I wanted to be the one lucky enough to have you." Romeo said, quietly.

"Rome, I just never felt that way for you. I'm sorry." Ally said, squeezing his arm as she continued walking to the cafeteria.

During lunch, Ally sat with Ashton. She tried looking for Griffin but he wasn't there. Frankly, Ally never really saw him in the cafeteria at lunch.

"Where's your boyfriend?" Ashton asked, nudging Ally teasingly.

Ally smiled and shrugged her shoulders, "He's technically not officially my boyfriend. I mean we haven't gone on a date and he hasn't asked me out or anything like that."

"Okay fine, where's your not boyfriend boyfriend?" Ashton rephrased, winking.

Ally gave her a look. Ashton put her hands up laughing, "I'll stop, I swear. For now that is."

Ally laughed. It felt good to have her life in place again. Ally wondered why Griffin had asked her to meet her at his car, it wasn't Monday or Thursday.

Eventually the day passed and it was the end of sixth period. She went outside to the parking lot and was met by Griffin leaning against his car with flowers in his hand.

"Griff, what is this?" Ally asked, taking the flowers and smelling them.

"This is me asking you out on our first date." Griffin said, taking Ally's hand an bringing her to the passenger side of the car.

Ally tilted her head to the side, "Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise." Griffin said, closing the door and getting into the driver's side.

"Please tell me." Ally asked, grabbing Griffin's hand in hers.

It was like that was all it took for Griffin to fall apart, because he looked as if he would tell Ally all his secrets if she asked. But he really did want it to be a surprise so he just laughed, shook his head, and held on tighter.

About fifteen minutes later when they were still on the road and holding hands, Ally asked for hints.

"Is it outside? Are we watching something? Will I like it?"

Griffin laughed and brought her hand to his lips and gave her a whisper of a kiss.

"I hope you do like it." Was all he said, before turning back to the road.

"Okay, is it wh-" Ally started to ask again, but Griffin cut her off.

"We're here Ally."

They pulled into a gravel parking lot and Griffin turned the car off.

"A fair? I love it Griff." Ally said in amazement, looking at the colors and rides.

"Yeah? I'm glad. And I brought this." Griffin said, pulling his Polaroid out from the back seats. Ally smiled.

"Ready?" Griffin asked.

"Yes."
